DALLAS, Texas, May 30, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) - At its annual shareholder meeting this week, the world's largest oil company, ExxonMobil, rejected a proposal demanding changes to its Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policy that would have granted special rights to homosexual employees.

"Had the resolution passed, the company would have been forced to begin promoting and providing 'acceptance' training of homosexuality to all employees, even if they had religious objections," said Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association.

The proposal, voted down by 81 percent of ExxonMobil's shareholders on May 30 read, "The Shareholders request that ExxonMobil amend its written equal employment opportunity policy to explicitly prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and to substantially implement the policy."

It would be nice to find out what other oil firms are doing in this vein. My guess is that due to the necessity of engaging Muslims, who are getting at least something right if for the wrong reason, all tread carefully. But bravo to ExxonMobil (and to the Almighty God Jehovah... NOT Allah) for this. The Lion Of Judah has informed the Exxon Tiger....

What we need is a big protest from the left so conservatives who won’t read this article can know about this and only pump Exxon/Mobile.

Were you at the Starbucks on Westheimer and Post Oak? There is certainly a celebration of alternative lifestyles on display at that location.

I invested $500 in Exxon in the early 1990's by investing directly through the dividend reinvestment plan. I allowed all the dividends to reinvest in shares of stock plus I occasionally sent $50 to the dividend reinvestment plan to add to purchase additional shares. Today, thank's to the company's strong performance and high dividend, my small investment is worth over $20,000. At the current price of $90.47 per share the dividend rate is 2.52% and assuming the business continues to perform well the dividend may be periodically increased. By holding the stock in the dividend reinvestment plan, in addition to buying shares directly from the company and reinvesting your dividends you will receive a proxy allowing you to vote your shares at the annual meeting. If you wish to buy the shares directly from the company instead of through a broker go to this website: http://www-us.computershare.com/investor/3x/plans/planslist.asp?bhjs=1&fla=0&stype=dspp Disclaimer - I am not recommending the sale or purchase of shares and I have no relationship with the company other than the shares I own. Your decision to invest should be based on your own research and assessment of the company's prospects.

Accomodations for sex deviates, while operating in Arab Countries, is NOT a good business decision. In one sense, Muslims have the sex deviate treatment right (in regards to Faggots and Dykes....they lose on women treatment, however).

This country apparently will make Laws to gain the votes of ANY group that has enough numbers to make it worth "buying".

There is no more "Freedom of Association" when it comes to accommodating Protected Classes (whether Hispanics, Muslims, Blacks, Women, or Criminals)

Agree with your view of the typical American oil company. They represent very well those who are willing to put their money and labor at risk to bring products of value to the market essential to our economy.

Except——I haven’t bought a gallon of Exon since it IMO screwed the taxpayers with the Alaska oil spill several years ago.

I believed the ultimate cost it bore was nothing more than a slap on the wrist——after it no doubt cashed in many political IOU’s and made many political donations.

And, it should be noted here its management did not have the guts to render an executive decision on the issue, but rather put it up for a vote by its shareholders (although it may have been required to do so by law or policy).

Exon may have concluded it was between a rock and a hard place...being the Muslim world in which it does business and the in-your-face homosexual movement in the USA, both of which the DOJ seems to want to go out of its way to protect.

Sodomite gays can intrude and disgust Starbucks patrons without complaint, but as of this morning better not light up a smoke (MJ joints excepted??) outside one of their stores.

"Your decision to invest should be based on your own research and assessment of the company's prospects."

I would assess XOM's prospects as better than mine or the country's over the next 50 years or so. I think their acquisition of gas producer XTO several years ago will turn out to be particularly prescient.

My wife inherited an odd lot of Exxon that her grandmother acquired during the depression of the 1930s. It came to my wife upon the dissolution of a small trust and so has the original cost basis of grandma's Standard Oil purchase 80 odd years ago.

I forget what the basis is, but several years ago when I calculated it for her account, I noted that the cost was significantly less than the quarterly dividend then being paid, perhaps 40 or 50 cents. I can't begin to calculate what that means as a total return over that period.

10 See, Boy Scouts? It’s easy...just say “NO!” to queers.

Irony - Rex Tillerson is the CEO of ExxonMobil. He is an Eagle Scout. His home is in Arlington, TX - same city where ExxonMobil and BSA have their corporate headquarters. Tillerson served as the 33rd BSA National (volunteer) President from 2010-2012. He currently sits on the BSA National Executive Committee.

3/07/2013 – BSA Chief Scout Executive Wayne Brock and Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson travelled to Nashville, TN, to meet with Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee President, Frank S. Page. Tillerson asked Page to support the BSA no matter what decision is reached in May. Page said he could not do that. God's truth is abiding, Page said, and principles should not be subject to the changing tide of human opinion. Scripture, not opinion polls, should provide the basis for leadership, Page said. Later in the day, Page Tweeted: "Met today with one of the most powerful personalities I've ever met. He did not budge 1 inch. Nor did I..”
