DALLAS, Texas, May 30, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) - At its annual shareholder meeting this week, the world's largest oil company, ExxonMobil, rejected a proposal demanding changes to its Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policy that would have granted special rights to homosexual employees.

"Had the resolution passed, the company would have been forced to begin promoting and providing 'acceptance' training of homosexuality to all employees, even if they had religious objections," said Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association.

The proposal, voted down by 81 percent of ExxonMobil's shareholders on May 30 read, "The Shareholders request that ExxonMobil amend its written equal employment opportunity policy to explicitly prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and to substantially implement the policy."

Being the son of someone who worked in the oil industry, I understand 'why'. I worked at GE, IBM, and Motorola in computing career. But the management of the oil companies I have always had a love and special regard for.

I cannot say the same of GE's incompetent management or that of the bozo's of IBM.

I guess IBM thinks it has to be MIS-managed since it is in Management Information Systems...

The Homosexuals wanted special rights that interfered with religious beliefs.

God bless Exxon. They are showing more moral leadership than the Episcopal Church, the United Methodist Church, the ELCA, etc. etc.

Good for EXXON.

IBM is full of the vilest scum on earth, and some of their main technocrats are actual occupy activists and “progressives”.

I quit going to Starbucks when some guy was hitting on all the guys in the place and all but demanding to get a hug form each male.

The devil is in the generalities, and in the details too... this particular thrust as described would be a bridge too far still in the USA. (Europe would lie down for it.) Too many "bitter clingers" and God bless 'em every one (anyhow, they only look bitter in the imaginations of their enemies... truth be told they are tenacious, but they see JOY in the Lord).

I dunno. Thinking if God gave me the nerve, I’d walk up to him, put my arm around his shoulder, and “Buddy, do you know Jesus?” Sometimes the doors that people open for the devil, God can walk right into as well.

ExxonMobil has oil operations in Muslim countries. Imagine the reaction there if EM pushed “acceptance training” in those locations.

That’s true... and also for various reasons they bring Muslims over here too on temporary assignments, coordinating with stuff going on over in the Muslim owned oil fields or connected with that.

Muslim oil is a mixed blessing. Most Islamoterrorism today isn’t oil funded; it is low or medium budget, clandestinely funded stuff. It gives a lot of Muslims something better to do than fume about the imagined ills that the West brings upon them. But if those societies ever turned... Katy bar the door, or rather Jesus bar it.

Well, I’d never use the invitation cynically. I think too much of the Lord and His Name to do this.

Probably a good thing just because of the domestic oil boom that is going on.

I don’t even know if we have an Exxon in our area. But I’m going to start seeking them out.

They probably do have “gay spouse” benefits, but at this point any obstacle to the camel is welcome. Let’s redeem the time by offering it to the Lord.
