Police now say that the former marine accused of killing the countrys best sniper and another man at a shooting range now says that he threatened to kill himself and his family back in September and he was hospitalized.
A police report from the September 2 incident states they were alerted to the threat when they received a call about 25-year-old Eddie Ray Routh, who is now in jail on two murder counts for allegedly killing Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield.
Eddie stated he was hurting and that his family does not understand what he has been through, the police report says.
The Dallas Morning News reports that when officers arrived on the scene they found Eddie walking outside the family home without shoes or a shirt, and smelling like alcohol.
His mother said that the argument started when his father said that they were going to take away his gun.
She stated Eddie began arguing and stated that he was going to blow his brains out, the report stated.
As it has been previously reported, Routh allegedly told police at the scene that he has post traumatic stress disorder.
He was arrested on Saturday evening following the afternoon shooting at the gun range, and while he was reportedly calm during the arrest, his time in jail has not been as smooth.

Dead Pool update
I’m sure ill catch a lot of flak on here for saying this but, why would you take someone that unstable to the shooting range?
He allegedly made a threat or he "made" a threat?
He's accused of allegedly shooting two men standing next to him. Hope they caught the right guy.

I don’t know how anyone could give you flak for that. I think that’s the main argument for our side in this whole manuafactured debate. We need to get nutty people out of common society, and especially away from places like gun ranges.
What SSRI was he taking?
Did he know? Did he just feel like he could handle it?
IOW, counseling wasn’t working. What meds did they have him on?
Are Chris and Chad allegedly dead?
I agree, it sounds like an illogical place to take someone who so shortly before talked about murder/suicide.
What a game.
All veterans suffer from PTSD in some form or other. (Soon you will see many professionals putting forth this particular meme to set the stage.)
Why? Because a high majority of veterans support the 2nd Amendment AND own guns. And if you make it illegal for anyone suffering PTSD from owning a gun you take out a major portion of private gun ownership in one fell swoop!
There is already a meme reportedly by several major news outlets in the last few days that 22 Veterans commit suicide everyday: 22 Vets Commit Suicide Everyday.
Never let a crisis go to waste!
Something about all this just does not sound right.Chris Kyle was a very saavy man, and if Routh was so dysfunctional that he was having impulsive episodes of p[ost traumatic stress, Kyle would have likely known of it.
Roth murdered two men and then proceeded to act rationally, stealing a truck, running from having done what he knew was wrong. If he was so debilitated or hallucinating, he would have collapsed in emotional distress and shot himslef or injured himself. Some things just do not fit.
This has elements of a planned hit, accomplished with some kind of rationality. We do not know what the motive could be, but there are a surprising number of highly effective leaders in the conservative/libertarian field who have been joining the Obama dead pool, from Bloomberg on. I’d say that NRA president Wayne LaPierre has something to worry about.
Zactly!!
WHO would have told Kyle about this nut’s psychiatric record? Or his arrests? I don’t think they are allowed to divulge that information to nonfamily members.
It’s highly likely that Chris Kyle had no idea how deranged this guy was.
WHO initiated the contact between Kyle and the shooter? Was he assigned to Kyle by whatever org was monitoring him? If so, who assigned him? Did THEY know about his extreme episodes?
The news comes from an alleged reporter.
Sounds to me the professionals had a duty to make sure he he could no longer possess a gun.
Just skimmed thru that list. I’ve never seen it before. It is chilling....
No one saw him kill them. Evidently hours passed before their bodies were discovered.
