I doubt if Kyle and Littlefield knew about the incident. He evidently was allowed to keep his gun even though he was supposedly hospitalized for threatening people. So they would have no reason to know about the incident in September.
Sounds to me the professionals had a duty to make sure he he could no longer possess a gun.

Normally, the social agencies would be all over the guy and his family to get every gun he might come within half a mile of. Nothing of the sort here. Weird.
