I dont think it would have mattered....the Dems had pretty well killed Romney with Hes a nasty Rich guy campaign.Romney was winning, until Obama coined the term "Romneysia"; that was the turning point, after that the momentum shifted back to Obama.

I still don't understand why he needs to leave. If he was a Conservative Republican he wouldn't have been working for Obama. Would put a crimp in his future political plans but not hurt him too bad with Dems. He can't become baggage on this administration as they've now been given a free pass to do whatever they want with no reelection or accountability to worry about. An affair turns most sensible people off but it was proved n Tuesday what we think doesn't matter one bit in Washington. Decency doesn't rule anymore. With the Dems it's almost a plus. Got to be more to this story.

Petraeus is being set up as the Benghazi fall-guy. --
No matter if he was pushed to resign, or he is getting out before TSHTF, or this is just a convenience coincidence; the memory of Petraus will be that the CIA is the source of "them movie made them do it," as well as any intelligence failure to know of the threat and to act in defense after the attack started.
Departed ones have very broad shoulders.

Seventy years ago I would have said this has Heydrich’s fingerprints all over it.

Within hours of Panetta saying there were no armed military assets near Benghazi.
Obviously, the Administration told Petraeus to lie, he said no, they brought out the affair.

Petreaus Out. Hillary Out. Holder Out. Even a dead Secret Service agent, 5 days before the election over a ‘marital affair’ yeah right.. Even the commie SCUM can’t handle living with abandoning Americans to die in Benghazi. Oh wait, John Kerry can.
To: Pete
A CIA director putting himself in a position to be blackmailed makes no sense. Sure it does.
It was found Bushs homeland security boss Chertoff, had people whod entered the country illegally, during war time, wandering around the inside of his private residence.
Ya talk about the potential for blackmail? This was over the top.

Isn't it one of the simplest and most frequently used tactics of foreign intelligence agencies to arrange for "extra-marital affairs" (read: bait them into cheating) to take down their target? ...or at least gain strong leverage against him?
I suspect that might be what happened here.

I wonder if up to now, someone was holding this over his head in order to influence him, e.g. Benghazi, and in order to remove it, he simply went public. Now he is free to speak.
It's got be something like that.
