On Sunday's political talk shows, several Republicans criticized the Obama administration's response to the September 11, 2012, terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya. Here's Senator John McCain of Arizona on CBS's Face the Nation:
You know, this administration is very good at touting and giving all the details like when they got Bin Laden. But now, we know that there were tapes, recordings inside the consulate during this fight, and they've gottenthey camethe F.B.I. finally got in and took those, and now they're classified as "top secret." Why would they be top secret? So the president went on various shows, despite what he said he said in the Rose Garden, about terrorist acts, he went on several programs, including "The View" including "Letterman" including before the U.N., where he continued to refer, days later, many days later, to this as a spontaneous demonstration because of a hateful video. We know that is patently false. What did the president know? When did he know it? And what did he do about it?
McCain said for "literally days and days" the White House "told the American people something that had no basis in fact whatsoever."
Newt Gingrich, on ABC's This Week:
But the bigger issue is, whether its unemployment or it is what happened in Benghazi, where weve had this strange situation over the weekend that the Secretary of Defense apparently refused to obey the Presidents order, if the president is telling the truth and he actually instructed his assistants to get aid to Benghazi, we're now being told that the Secretary of Defense canceled that. And I think these kinds of things all drag down the Obama campaign.
Ohio senator Rob Portman talked on Fox News Sunday about a "shocking breakdown" with regard to the Obama administration's response:

Pissing on the 1st Amendment is no way to defeat terrorism.
I’m thinking if the Benghazi events had involved an American child being molested by a Libyan mob and orders from on-high had been given to “stand down” any rescue attempt, heads would have rolled already.
The actual event was multiple murders of Americans witnessed over a span of 7 hours.
Why does the obvious ethical disconnect in this story persist?
wow..1st I heard the Leon told Obambi to pound sand
Did anyone ever make a survey how many Americans know where or what Benghazi is?
Benghazi, Benghazi? I got it, Erwin Rommel lies buried there.
The more you look at Obama the more he appears as a slug. He’s lazy to the max and he skips important meetings or walks out of them.He even lets his Ambassador and the Seal Protectors die routinely for his shady political reasons.Who in God’s Holy Name can/could trust this demon on anything?
Obama is the city-slicker who comes to town in a western setting, and is appointed sheriff, because nobody else will take the job. He claims his qualifications are sterling.
The local bad cattle baron is going to kill the small ranch owner and his three ranch hands.
The sheriff finds out, but is too busy “wink, wink” to drop his card game and protect the small rancher and his hands.
Thirty local ranchers plead with the sheriff to ‘ride-out now’! The sheriff’s knees are knocking under the table, but he plays tough and says, “No, we’ll go out in the morning. Everything will be okay. ‘Stand down boys’.”
The next morning when they ride out, everyone is already dead.
Everyone knows he is an ass hat clown, who was too timid to take a stand and help save the rancher and his hands. That sure doesn’t stop him from telling tall tails.
He remains sheriff because the cattle baron pays everyone off.
This is when the Lone Ranger and Tonto, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, or Hop-along Cassidy generally ride in to the rescue, and get things back on track.
That’s us folks.
Here they each had a golden opportunity on nationwide TV to drive home some salient points.
Instead, their thoughts were unorganized, almost incoherent...and flat. What a waste of a perfect chance to score some really sharp points.
McCain, with his never-ending obsession for TV face time always ends up saying nothing of value and just takes up a spot some good conservative could fill. Even the Dem, Pat Cadell, has something to say....and knows how to say it with passion.
Sheesh, can't these experienced GOP guys put together an oral paragraph while on camera that has a grabbing beginning, a juicy middle and a good punch line to close the remarks?
I (and/or any politically-educated freeper) could do a better job than these two twerps coughed up today....no sound and fury......just gray hairballs signifying nothing.
Still and forever the stupid party, I guess.

"We knew this is where we had to go once our usually effective tactic of blaming Bush failed," said the assembled Administration insiders and MSM employees.
"Nuclear option? What's that," asked a Republican congressman.
"Stand back!" warned a chorus Obama minions. "RACISM!"
The events surrounding Benghazi are 1000s of times more suspicious than anything that happened 11 years ealier on 911.
Ha! I love how Newt acts as if to take Obama for his word re: his orders, by which he shows how obviously the puzzle piece doesn’t fit.
Here is the situation. Americans are going to be selecting their representatives for the next term in about a week.
The president and his administration are unable to provide any information regarding the incident in Libya where Americans were killed.
They are telling us that they will be doing a thorough investigation which is expected to be completed after the election.
This sounds very much like the Pelosi statement telling the congressmen that they have to vote for Obamacare to find out what is in it.
My personal view is that since they have told us a number of variations of the story that have proved false and it appears that they are trying to stall until after the election that the truth is going to be very damaging to the president. I will vote accordingly and I hope others do also.
In case you didn’t make it to the MEAT of the article:
... General Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place. General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready.
General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.
The story continues that now General Rodiguez would take General Ham’s place as the head of Africom.
Hey! Barack! A pitcher full of icy margaritas......a cooler full of choom......a nice Cuban beach. Sounds better than beanie weenies......an orange jumpsuit......cell block 9.
Amen Leni.
Romney will hit the Libya button the weekend before the election.
“..Erwin Rommel lies buried there.”
Only his reputation.
I’m sending in Lash LaRue and Whip Wilson.
