Rush is talking about the early internet and mentions Jim Robinson and Free Republic.

I disagree. I have a great memory about things, but names completely leave me.

How could Rush forget Jim Thompson?
I figured Rush got the ZOT.
Rush OFTEN has trouble remembering names correctly, and of people with much greater visibility and name recognition value than FreeRepublic or Jim.
Were you listening to Rush when he made the comments this morning? It would be impossible to miss the sense of affection he had about this subject.
Or not. As you wish, and if it makes you happier to believe otherwise, knock yourself out.
I remember that Rush Limbaugh used to have Compuserve as an advertiser in his early days and would compare the other online services feature for feature.
In any event, what's the story on why Jim Robinson got banned from Prodigy? As I recall, that was a venture involving Sears and it never had the freedom offered by Compuserve. Yes, a prettier interface on the former but we hard-core geeks preferred the spartan command-line of CI$ we we referred to it.

I heard hannity dis Free Republic a long time ago, before I signed up. He said he got sick and tired of FREEPERS inviting him to weddings and birthdays just so they could get expensive gifts from him. He was very snarky about it. Then I signed up and found out for myself that Freepers are the greatest. I stopped listening to hannity.

It seems to me there might have been short stints on Compuserve and GEnie...wait..what was I talking about? This morning’s breakfast? I don’t remember...sigh.
I used to LAUGH when my grandma would call me all her kids’ names first then go down the list of my brothers then finally get to me...
now I do it.

Your comment made me laugh. I remember the day my mom called my brother "Pee-Wee" before she said his name. She was mortified. He didn't let her forget about it for a long time.
Don't forget the fabulous automated downloader and off-line reader "TapCIS". TapCIS had a feature I often wish Free Republic had, called a "twit filter" you could set to skip messages from specified posters!
And, I must confess, I made the ultimate descent into CompuServe geekdom by switching to IBM's OS/2 and the Golden CommPass CIS reader.
