For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.

Fluke, then the treasurer of Students Acting for Gender Equality (SAGE), told The Cornell Daily Sun during a protest of a pro-life display at the schools Ho Plaza
This stuff just writes itself !
I don't listen anymore ---I really can't listen to any of the mainstream guys or gals) anymore for this very reason.
“Rush sold his soul for money. He was losing sponsors left and right Hes a moral coward and Ill never listen to him again. I truly hope he just fades away- quickly.”
Not surprised to see that response - it is however a reality that you don’t stay on the radio without sponsors. Now if anyone believes enough in Rush’s original statement to pick up the funding of his radio program so that he wouldn’t have to walk it back, more power to them.
But without sponsors Rush quickly turns into “Air America” in terms of staying power - lot of good that does anyone.
I think he’ll get by without your listenership.
Up yours noob.
We ain’t melting down here because of something papertyger said....
We have a name for those who “stay loyal” to those who betray loyalty.
They’re called “idiots.”
Precisely. The self-righteousness practically oozes off the computer screen.
"cancelled" meaning dropped from that station....to be picked up by the competing station the next day.
Yes this distracted from 1) the sad state of affairs in which Fluke believes she's entitled to free contraception, which is probably why he apologized, and 2) more on the credentials of this woman. It's sounding like she's an embedded 30 yr. old activist....in other words, a fraud. I want more attention paid there.
she isn’t married....at the very least, she is a fornicator.
Certainly...most young people are fornicators - but most do not appear before our elected officials demanding their fornication to be financed by the taxpayer.
As another FReeper pointed out...young college men are usually so eager to fornicate, they are more than willing to front the cost.
Most fornicators simply keep it to themselves.
Not this babe...she is saying to a catholic organization...”to hell with your silly teaching. You must finance our fornication or we will accuse you of being negligent, uncaring misogynists!”
This is absolutely despicable.
No woman in my life would ever behave like this - and it makes me cringe when these morons are so bold as to claim they speak for all women.
That sound you here is Kos calling you back....
Yes and I didn’t make the rules.
He can’t survive one weekend without those particular sponsors?
Having said that, I'm not going to live and die by his every word like some demented sycophant who doesn't realize that the man is doing nothing more than running a successful business.
How can I best say amen? You're totally right and that's why I posted the lines from Lowry Mays. His honesty about the business was a breath of fresh air when it came out in 2003. Like Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall) said in The Godfather, "...this is business not personal."
We're all trying to make an honest buck and Rush Limbaugh has certainly excelled in that regard. Plus, he's created a number of jobs with his wealth.
I think that captions his apology perfectly.
Come on, people. Rush has a boss. He was forced to do this. The lawyers showed him how he was in violation of contract (I don’t know his contract but it could be something as simple as a behavior clause) and rush had no choice.
In la we just had John and ken off the air for 2 weeks, because John called Whitney a crack ho.
Rush isn’t a wimp. It’s not his choice. But he needs to stay on the air.
The Left didn’t win this one. Rush exposed the slut for a complete phony and her agenda as completely manufactured for the President. The Left won the skirmish over an apology, but not the larger battle over the Obama Administration’s maneuver to use the slut to advance their agenda of winning back women who have abandoned the Prez.
His brother now comes out out tweeting damage control. Rush, just retire. CAVE!
Here,here!
He’s a coward. Just like the rest.
