For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.
Fail on yourself.
Don't be a twit. I answered your question.
You are spot on. It is all about the advertisers. I’m sure that the left had a well engineered phone/email campaign directed at the advertisers demanding that they pull their $$$.
We need to push back the same way. It’s all about the $$$$ folks. The most tender spot is always the wallet. For info, follow the money. For action, threaten the money. For more action, promise the money. It never changes.
Hit where it makes a dent.
Dont be naive.
You can shove that BS where the sun don't shine. I'm being realistic, not naive.
...WE would have lost, not Rush.
I wouldn't have lost a damn thing. I don't need Rush to do my thinking for me. Are you so naive and vacuous that you do?
He did the right thing here.
I'm glad you feel that way and you're free to continue feeling that way. I made no comment as to it being the right or wrong move.
Right on.
I wonder if that nice little package he received last Thursday had anything to do with this?
So you think Limbaugh spoke wrongly, and that the little whore is a virtuous babe?
Rush has been called some pretty strong names by the media and nothing done. Bush and Palin were attacked relentlessly and so was Palin's daughter, Bristol
Of course I don’t think that. Don’t be insulting.
I’m not being a twit. I’m making a point.
So far, ONE case of a liberal apologizing has been cited, and it involved a completely false accusation.
Rush’s accusation - that she wants, and says she NEEDS, $1000/year for birth control is part of her public testimony. If someone NEEDS sex 1,000+ times a year, what are they?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! It is no wonder we are LOSING, WE have to
take on ALL advertisers, PLEASE use a little common sense!!!!! We are
The brightest of what is out there or are we???
Ms fluke graduated from Cornel with a BS in Policy Analysis & Management, as well as Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in 2003.

That's certainly a possibility since, as you point out, he as the financial resources to do it.
That notwithstanding, a move away from the mass media isn't always a winning strategy. Since exiting Fox, Glenn Beck has fallen off the map for many. It was likewise even with Howard Stern when he moved off broadcast radio and onto a subscription-based service. Even Keith Olbermann has fallen into more of an abyss since he was fired from MSNBC. There are a lot of niche media outlets but the big audiences are still found on the traditional side. That will change eventually but it hasn't happened just yet.
And now to take a brief detour down memory lane, here's Rush Limbaugh when he was known as Jeff Christie, a top 40 disk jockey at WIXZ in McKeesport, Pennsylvania:
And you can listen to how he sounded almost 40 years ago here. "The Exorcist" was starting its run as he mentions during his program.
His advertisers were starting to pull away from his show because of pressure from women’s rights activist groups.
Don't say anything nasty about the Georgetown Chicken Ranch.
That’s okay.
David Limbaugh can KMA, too.
This was unforgivable.
Those of you trying to put a positive spin on this are going to be very disappointed.
Ignorance means lack of knowledge...oh great one, impart to me your knowledge from on high..as it relates to the discussion at hand...
Someone posted a link to the transcript of her testimony.
I’m going back to read *exactly* what she said.
Then, I’ll answer.
“And now we all know the real reason why there is no discussion about the eligibility issue or the ballot challenges.”
Right on, right on, right on. I’m glad I’m not the only one
who have noticed him skirting around some of the more
important and damning issues.
