Follow the bouncing ball. Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum has now bounced to a 12-point lead over Mitt Romney in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters finds Santorum with 39% support to the former Massachusetts governors 27%. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich follows from a distance with 15% of the vote, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul runs last with 10%. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate in the race, and six percent (6%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Just over a week ago, it was Romney leading the pack with 34% after his win in the Florida Primary, followed by Gingrich 27%, Santorum 18% and Paul 11%. But then last week Santorum swept GOP caucuses in Colorado and Minnesota and a non-binding primary in Missouri as Gingrich continues to stumble in the race to be the conservative alternative to Romney.
Perhaps more tellingly, Santorum now trounces Romney 55% to 34% in a one-on-one matchup among likely GOP primary voters. This is the first time any challenger has led Romney nationally in a head-to-head match-up. Santorum also leads Romney head-to-head in Michigan.
Nationally, Romney still wins 47% to 38% paired against Gingrich and 47% to 42% running against only Paul.

Looks like Santorum is bouncing Romney right outta there.
Good news.
What’s amazing is that no matter what poll you look at Rommney is always hovering within a few points of 25%. Basically, conservatives: 73% rinos: 27%
YES!!!!
More GOOD NEWS!!!
Will the RINO elite and RINO pundits support Santorum or silently support Barry?
Santorum just stayed in there and didn't quit.
A lesson to all not to quit. Never surrender. Perry shouldn't have let the media push him out. ditto for Palin.
add Newts 15% to the 39% of Santorum and you get an absolute majority consensus forming around Santorum and against mittens of 54%
the other lesson to be learned from all this... if you don’t play you can’t win.
Palin made a big mistake
GREAT AD!!! Contrast this with how Gingrich fought back against Rombo...Gingrich came across looking angry and desperate ...Santorum’s ad NAILS the Rino while still looking presidential.... excellent
Wow!!!!Has any candidate in this cycle surpassed Romney like this?
Yep you nailed it. We Republicans have got an awesome cheerleeding squad. Some of them are literally beautiful. Too bad all the good and great players only want to cheer lead and yell advice from the sidelines, and only the bums and b-team players want to be quarterback.
Will the negative ads work this time? I’m leaning no.
Romney’s got his hands full managing those flying monkeys. You know, Karl Rove and Ann Coulter can only do so much! ;-)
I wish I wasn't so retarded about being able to post pix here like I can do with links. But I sometimes hand out these little cards to my students who are on the bubble and might be failing a class (I teach high school government & economics): It's a picture of a large bird swallowing a frog. The frog is halfway down the gullet of the bird but his hands are outside the birds mouth and locked around the bird's throat. "Never Surrender" is the quote below. I wish I could post that here.
Time to rally around the ONE CANDIDATE who can defeat Romney and draws sharp contrast between the GOP and O-Jackass.
I didn't want Santorum to give up two weeks ago, and I don't want Newt to give up now. I'll support either one, although I prefer Newt, but I want them both to fight it out and polish their skills a bit longer, if that does not increase the risk that we will be stuck with Romney as the nominee. By Super Tuesday we should have an answer.
