n his New York Times bestselling book, Throw Them All Out, Breitbart editor Peter Schweizer revealed how members of Congress enrich themselves and their relatives using earmarks and insider information. Now, the Washington Post, following in Schweizer’s footsteps, has conducted a study that found 16 members of Congress have used their power of the purse to benefit companies, colleges, and community groups tied to their relatives.

If a congressman owns property in his district, and if he secures federal funding for his district, as is standard and often truly appropriate behavior, it would be very hard to avoid the “earmark near personal property” tag.

Let’s be careful not to use too broad a brush.

Well, just shame on you for an intelligent and thoughtful post on a kneejerk thread.

I didn’t see your comments before posting at #61, but I agree with you.

I think you are probably right.....The water is murky.

That said....I'd just as soon most of these "rep's" get demoted to regular jobs.

I really thought “more” of Bennie and “less” of Roger.
Shouldn’t a man named Benny be spelled with a Y?

My number 43 also addressed this issue, and I’m linking you here to 42, so that you can read 43 in context.

I’d like to see them demoted to regular jobs for nine months of each year. I’d like to see their salaries cut to the bone, and them have to support themselves with those regular jobs.

Living in the D. C. for decades, is no way to keep these ding-bats current with what the folks in fly-over country have to face each day.

The should have to live on their private sector retirements tool.

Sadly, she is not. Check out my Senator, Richard Shelby of Alabama. $124 Million.

Wish I knew this a couple of years ago. There was a primary, but Shelby won that with 3/4 of all votes.

Actually I would expect nothing less from either of them. I have to say, I am very surprised not to see more of the Mississippi delegation on the list. But maybe they are better at hiding it.
