Rick Santorum's taken a large lead in Michigan's upcoming Republican primary. He's at 39% to 24% for Mitt Romney, 12% for Ron Paul, and 11% for Newt Gingrich.
Santorum's rise is attributable to two major factors: his own personal popularity (a stellar 67/23 favorability) and GOP voters increasingly souring on Gingrich. Santorum's becoming something closer and closer to a consensus conservative candidate as Gingrich bleeds support.
Santorum's winning an outright majority of the Tea Party vote with 53% to 22% for Romney and 10% for Gingrich. He comes close to one with Evangelicals as well at 48% to 20% for Romney and 12% for Gingrich. And he cracks the 50% line with voters identifying as 'very conservative' at 51% to 20% for Romney and 10% for Gingrich.
Santorum's benefiting from the open nature of Michigan's primary as well. He's only up by 12 points with actual Republican voters, but he has a 40-21 advantage with the Democrats and independents planning to vote that pushes his overall lead up to 15 points. Santorum is winning by a healthy margin in every region of the state except for Oakland County, where Romney has a 40-26 advantage, and the area around Lansing where Paul actually has an advantage at 30% to 27% for both Romney and Santorum.

And once again, you attack me on a personal level first. you get it right back. (I learned that from those long nights under enemy fire from my foxhole.)
I think you have your candidates mixed up. That concept is Newt all the way. Have you read any of his books or listen to any of his ideas prior to him running for Pres? They all involve a "Conservative" gov't solution to Lib talking points.
I don’t think you’re wrong.
I understand your 'rules' psycho. You permit yourself to insult and name-call at any level while whining and bellyaching at the imaginary slights you are offended by in the words of others.
You're a dish-it-out-freely-can't-take-it psycho.
But there's nothing 'sanctimonious' in anything I've said. It's fact. Judeo-Christian morality was a significant building block in this great Republic, and the Founders knew that tearing it down would destroy it.
Now either factually defend your amoral, bigoted position, or cease and desist the nonsense you're posting.
I don’t think so either. :)
I like Gingrich. I believe he is the only one smart enough to save us. Santorum might make a good VP and I would like
Bolton for SOS.
Getting interesting ping!
You still don’t get it. You come to all the pro-Santorum threads to bash him but you NEVER say anything positive about Newt. You are doing more harm to Newt than you even realize. I can’t wait until Santorum wins the nomination. This country needs it’s morals, character, and principles back. Once America is back on track with social issues, the fiscal will follow easily. I LOVE every vote that Santorum gave. Most of the nonsense you spew is add ons to the bills which I am surprised a supposedly education woman doesn’t know that. Perhaps you are not as smart as you think you are.
I like Gingrich. I believe he is the only one smart enough to save us. Santorum might make a good VP and I would like
Bolton for SOS.
Sadly for you, nobody is voting for Newt and I don’t see him fighting in Michigan or Arizona. I think it is crazy to just care about Super Tuesday while Santorum gets stronger and stronger in the South. I think Gingrich is making a huge error putting all his eggs in the South. He reminds me of Guiliani’s 2008 campaign. He ended up losing because he waited too long to start working for the nomination.
I thgink it’s the 287th, along with AZ. If Mitt loses MI, he’s toast.
I would never have thought that he could do it, but apparently he is.
Take your personal attacks elsewhere, I am ignoring you from here on out.
I also think Rick seems blue collar.
The very fact that you support Santorum and used to bash Newt every chance you got in past threads, is absolute proof that you are not as smart as you think you are.
And like another here, you will also be ignored from here on.
I have taken a “match your desires to the candidates” test (Sorry don’t have the link now) many months ago when there were something like 8 GOP candidates. Santorum came out as the best match for me. I am very happy at how well he is doing now, obviously. I suspect that if you took a similar test, you would find (as many apparently are) that he is a good match for you, too.
A brokered convention is undoubtedly what she is pushing. Her conditional support for Gingrich, “to keep the process going” was a clear move to get to the convention with no clear winner, and everyone looking for a acceptable compromise... i.e.: Sarah P. Works for me.
What I like best about Santorum comes out when he speaks off the cuff about the Constitution and Declaration. He doesn’t need any type of prompting, and he makes so much sense... Gingrich is able to do the same thing, but comes across as a bit stiffer when he does so, and strays too often into progressivism when he does for my druthers.
And like another here, you will also be ignored from here on.
Oh man my day just gets better and better. Santorum is gaining in California now. And you ignoring me is the cherry on the cake. You cannot prove your slanderous comments about me bashing Newt. I am a Santorum supporter not a Newt Basher. Now you on the other hand are a Santorum basher and then nothing....not a word of praise for Newt. You are wasting your time on Santroum threads. We are committed. Perhaps you should got to positive Newt threads to stop the bleeding that is occurring with Newt supporters changing to Santorum supporters. Get read for President Santorum. You might cry, but you will be the only one.
Are you out of your mind or so you only act crazy?
