Santorum Doesn't Fall For Gregory's Bait On Banning Working Mothers From His Administration
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 02/12/2012 10:13:02 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

On today's Meet The Press, "moderator" David Gregory gave a good preview of how the MSM/Obama industrial complex will try to cariacture and demonize Rick Santorum should he become the Republican presidential candidate.

Gregory asked Santorum whether, if elected president, he would only permit single women without children to work in his administration. That's right: Gregory was actually wondering whether Santorum would prohibit mothers from serving. Santorum didn't rise to Gregory's absurd bait, giving a smiling and good-natured response to the effect all women would be welcome in a Santorum administration.

That's a hell of a thing to ask, Gregory is married and working isn't she?

Santorum will spend far more time answering these types of questions in a General Election than he would all others combined.

They're going easy on him now as they would love to see a decades-long culture warrior as the GOP nominee.

Unfortunately, there's a real good chance they'll get their wish.

Santorum will NOT be vetted on cultural issues in a GOP primary. Everyone is afraid of his fellow Social Conservatives...30-40% of the GOP electorate who often votes as a bloc.

Only Social Conservatives are empowered to look at this man's positions and judge how they will play in the General Election. This cannot be an emotional evaluation. It must be a severe, intellectual examination.

Because, once the G3eneral Campaign starts you can bet your sweet bippy the left will go after Santorum as viciously as they can on what are certainly winning issues.

If Santorum is the nominee, Obama will win at least 45 states and at least 58% of the vote.

Easy.

This is just more evidence that the GOP debates should not be moderated by anyone with a connection to mainstream news. The official talking heads have but one mission: destroy Republicans.

From your intellectual standpoint, what questions would you ask Santorum?

Oh for goodness sakes. 45 states? Right now he is the one who is tied with Obama in the general. What happened to everyone saying that you could put up a monkey and they would win. Are we seriously thinking that Obama would win with any of our candidates? Are you sure you are not an Obama supporter? Anybody who is saying Obama is going to win in November with Santorum is obviously working for Obama.

I would advise him as follows:

State that all GOP candidates espouse the same moral philosophy. Even though there is some variation in what they say...and outright divergence in their past...all candidates support the same platform planks.

He should also make a HARD SHIFT in his leading themes to the Size and Scope of the Federal Government and the corruption of the DC/Wall Street cabal.

He must put SPECIFIC proposals on the table to balance the budget by REDUCING the size and scope of government and he must promise to root out corruption in Congress.

Those two things will win the election.

Note: For those who will retort that the congress is essentially immune from investigation by the executive...the investigations start on Wall Street, Fannie and Freddie. If those folks implicate office holders, you can pursue with ZEAL.

Of course I would permit single women without children to work in my administration said Santorum. But I would ban single men without children from working in my administration.

That won't ever happen, regardless of who the GOP candidate might be. Obama, with his typical arrogance with requiring religious organizations to fund abortions and birth control, has created the seeds of the greatest crushing defeat of all time in American politics. The last thing Obama wants to face in November is a genuine pro-life candidate. There never has been a mandate from the people for abortions in this country and now with this latest example of religious bigotry, it seals the fate of those who embrace the culture of death.

"Anybody who is saying Obama is going to win in November with Santorum is obviously working for Obama."

Your zeal has blinded you.

I stick by my prediction and hope we don't have the opportunity to see if it's true.

Now, as for your attack on me, personally, apologize.

Yep. They’re holding some stuff back too, to no-doubt use if he becomes the nominee. For example, one of my “friends” on FaceBook posted a video of him talking with constituents in which he says “I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money”. You can bet they’ll be playing that 24x7 if he wins.

It could be that David's husband just stays home and takes care of the house.

. It must be a severe, intellectual examination.

Santorum's religiosity, which is in step with our Framers, never accepted abortion.

In IL, Senator Hussein voted to let babies who were supposed to be aborted, but oops, were born alive, to be set aside to die. What is the body count since 1973? 40 million?

Does that count as an intellectual comparison to you or is it just emotional? Is 40 million a tragedy or just a statistic?

The response for every socially conservative candidate should be as follows:

1. I am a Constitutionalist. This means whatever you do in your private life is your business. It is NOT the Government’s Business. Period.

2. Whatever you do in your private life is your responsibility so DO NOT make your fellow citizens pay for your actions.

Enough Said.
