Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
“Well I hope you find that perfect candidate to support before the Marxists send you off to some gulag.”
Finally, I hope your perfect candidate, Ron Paul, fails miserably, or you’ll find your daughters in hijabs while you kneel for prayer to Mohammed seven times a day. Mr. Paul’s insanely naive view of Islam is almost criminal.
No time limit as I understand, although the site chair can close the vote as his discretion. As far as results it will be precinct-by-precinct, site-by-site, county-by-county. Size and competency of each will determine.
I would post my site and county but we’ve been told not to. If I can get around that I will.
And, the state GOP will announce. Don’t know if it’s county-by-county or if they’ll report them all at once.
I don't believe I have protested at all. I merely pointed out that Perry, being one of the weakest candidates is currently polling 5th.
Either Perry really is bottom of the race or an awful lot of people are pushing that line.
He polls in single digits most everywhere. That means he really is at the "bottom of the race".
One good way for undecideds to pick someone is to look at who Obama really doesnt want to win.
If you say so. Obama and the DNC have been attacking Romney; it's all over the news reports of the day. I would hate to see Romney get the GOP nomination. Apparently, so would they.
Yes I can! I hope she gets a decent percentage. Might be a game changer. . . Always remember Ike not running and then he was. . He was drafted by We the People!
Thanks for your answer.
I've never been a libertarian and mostly I don't like libertarians. I think of them as idealist fools. But I like Marxists and progressives even less so I am stuck between a rock (Paul) and a hard spot (Newt, Romney, Perry, Santorum). At least Paul believes the republic should follow the Constitution so I am for now going with him. I don't vote here in Texas until Super Tuesday so I have time to maybe change my mind.
There’s no predicting this one.
Many pollsters will have red faces tomorrow.
“Be with Iowas Voters today, touch their hearts and lead them to YOUR choice for our next leader. Place YOUR Angels about each voting place and protect voters, And Lord Cause confusion in the minds of those who desire to cheat and steal votes from the true votes. In the Name Of Jesus we Pray.”
AMEN and Amen!
Obama isn’t watching, hell, only one state out of 57.....
Perry was up to 4th place a week or two ago and it was ignored. You didn’t hear all the surge talk when he had movement. Same with Newt, if he starts to recover, they totally ignore it.
Secondly, I haven’t heard Obama’s people attack Romney but either way, they are not afraid of him. He can’t fight Obamacare because he started it. He’s a liberal so the Republican base would sit home and O would steal yet another election. Obama would love to face off with Romney
she has missed too many deadlines. it is a useless exercise to go there.
Thanks very much - makes sense now.
One thing I don’t understand is why his opponents have not come out with an onslaught of negative ads, akin to what they did to Gingrich. He’s so whacky and that needs to be drilled home!
Ron Paul - faux Constitutionalist
IOWA has same day registration.
So the kook pauls can be bussed in, registered, vote, and then go to another caucus meeting and repeat.
Dunno about any forecasts, but you may have a bead on Momentum Santorum.... The good Senator might just Win. Santorum not my 1st choice, but he is a decent fellow.
I am so glad the actual voting is getting underway, or at least the semi-actual voting in this case. I’ll bet Iowans will be glad come tomorrow morning, when media move out and they can live in peace again.
