Newt Gingrich's surge to the top of the Republican presidential field has some conservatives imagining the former House Speaker as the anti-Romney. Gingrich is encouraging such a view with his claim that he is "certainly more conservative" than the former Massachusetts governor. The Manchester (N.H.) Union-Leader's endorsement added to the perception of a growing "newt-mentum" to anoint Gingrich as the preferred conservative in the Republican presidential field. But there are substantial reasons why thoughtful conservatives should think very carefully before jumping on this bandwagon.
There are, for example, gaping holes in Gingrich's conservative credentials. As the American Spectator's David Catron pointed out Monday, Gingrich has long been a fan of Dr. Donald Berwick. Berwick just resigned as President Obama's director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which oversees Obamacare. Obama put Berwick there because of his professed love for Britain's socialized medicine.

It appears we are getting the candidates that the establishment ants to give us. More of the same old Sh*t and not much different than Obama. All these guys work for the same gang. The only difference is the GOP only slows down our demise, it doesn’t reverse it. They are nothing more than liberals on a budget..
Newt is not a conservative.
He is loads better than Mitt, but Newt is a big gub mint dope.
Smart guy but still a dope.
Why not, Newt did.
There are several reasons why amnesty would be a disaster for the United States and migrants and why those who are working here illegally but who wish to take part in the worker visa program must first return home to get in line and apply.
Anything less than requiring people who are working here illegally to return home to apply for a worker visa is amnesty.
Your problem is mental. Your definition of amnesty is any policy with which you disagree. That is known as sanctimonious righteousness and is unseemly

I see eye-to-eye with you about 95% of the time, Jim. Pretty sure that’s why I keep coming back to FR.
On this, though, we do not see things the same. Newt is an enemy of the constitution. So is Mitt. The difference to me is that Mitt has been a far more decent human being over the course of his life than Newt. And Newt has done more damage to the country in public life than Mitt. I would not vote for either in the general election, but if it comes to it, I would vote for Mitt in the primary if it’s the only way to keep Newt from securing the GOP nomination.
No, Bert. My problem is with people who think Newt Gingrich is a reliable Conservative and Presidential material. He is not with us. He is only for himself. I dismissed him as a political leader after he folded like a cheap suit at the end of 1995. He is a total joke.
I'm not real fond of Newt...but I will listen closely to what he has to say as we get closer to crunch time.....If he wants my vote .....He better not screw up ANY conservative stance in a debate!...if he waffles again....He's toast.....
I only had to think once. Newt is WRONG for America.
Bears repeating. I've just about made up my mind to write her in, in the primary and the general. If Cain falls out, that's what I'm going to do.
To hell with the corruptocrat GOP/DNC establishment. I'll walk away from the voting booth with a clear conscience.
Devotion is a wonderful and admirable thing, but blind devotion is, well...something else.
Good luck.

Good gosh, Jim, say it louder!!!!!
Could you imagine where she’d be right now?!?!?!? She’d be the front-runner!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll start the petition.............
As a graduate of West Georgia College (class of 74) and a former constituent of his, I can tell you that you are most mistaken.
Perry -- nice enough in some matters, but not a viable candidate -- Obambi would destroy him in debates. Santorum - nice, but no traction.
I see Newt as the best option. Cain for his VP and the sun will be shining brightly...
and yes to whom? Cain is another option, but he’s not formulated his thoughts and ideas as well. If not Cain or G, I can’t see anyone else as viable.
Yes, I agree. I’d see them wearing this bottom that said:
Nuck Fewt
I don’t have to think twice about Newton. Once is enough. Santorum 2012!!
Don’t walk away. Santorum 2012!
Cronos, Help Make Santorum Viable! You just coined a campaign motto.
You’re with the wrong “Rick”, Windflier. Switch to Santorum!
