Nebraska 17, Penn State 14; Crowd Chants "We love JoePa."
The New York Times ^ | November 12th, 2011

A last-ditch drive ends in disappointment for Penn State, which loses to Nebraska, 17-14. Not having any timeouts crippled the offense, which completed two passes short of a first down, including one with seconds left, but couldn't stop the clock.

This is a different Saturday in State College. Immediately after McGloin's final pass fell incomplete, the Penn State crowd cheered the team's effort: the cheering grew to a roar as the two teams again met a midfield, such as they did right before the game.

Again, as occurred several times during the game, there were chants of "We love JoePa." Interviewed after the game, interim coach Tom Bradley said that what Penn State has gone through over the last week is "unprecedented in the history of college sports."

It won’t be so touchy-feely when Penn State goes out on the road.

I see that you like to respond in pictures.

Is that because responding in grammatically correct sentences is difficult for you?

Anyways, this discussion looks like it’s going nowhere real fast.

I hope Penn State enjoyed today’s pity party.

Even if they acquit themselves well on the road, who is going to want Penn State at their bowl game?

There is still time to do the right thing and call it quits.

Just wondering... are there any regs in NCAA rules about applying the death penalty for this situation. If not will they add them in the near future?

Pictures do speak a thousand words. Heck I'd give finger puppets a try on you PSU child rape minimizers if I thought it would have any effect.

Regardless, your man-god is a scumbag as is most of his cronies. The actions of the PSU school and it's students & supporters have been an absolute disgrace. And how anyone can fundraise for a defense fund on behalf of a child rapist is beyond me. Oh wait he helped your man-god win some football games. That explains it. Go team!(sarcasm off)

Doesn't look that way. Right now, I'd say Ohio State is in greater danger of it than Penn State. That said, I don't see it happening ever again to a top 40 D-1 football program.

Follow the money.

"Born and raised in Baton Rouge, bleed purple and gold, graduate of LSU and rabid tiger fan here."

I was born and raised in PA, graduate of Gettysburg College. I'm pretty sure we had a football team. I think our biggest scandal may have been graduating Ron Paul, but there was that time an SAE brother shot a deer out of season, or the time the Sigma Chi brothers threw a vending machine off their roof...

Those "wise man" at the NCAA only come down hard on those programs that have the temerity to pay their endentured servant athletes a little money under the table.

Nothing but crickets chirping from the NCAA when it comes to a "long-respected" program looking the other way, or dare we even say "enabling" a child rapist.

I don’t believe there are, as most NCAA major violations are related to recruiting and/or money issues.

That being said, I think the NCAA will be under pressure to interpret their rules in such a way as to allow them to mete out a severe punishment to Penn State.

Or, as you suggested, they might just re-write the rules because of the magnitude of this case.

The NCAA needs to move out of Indianapolis, Indiana before I start caring WHAT they do about anything. Bunch of feeble hypocrites.

Tho some of the staff may not warrant prosecution, think about it, as a parent, when kids commit the “sin of omission” is just as bad as lying or covering up...maybe worse. This matter could and should have been resolved over a decade ago. Had that happened, lives would have been spared, and the program would likely be stronger than ever. For years and years, this trust was betrayed. My guess is there are countless direct and indirect victims...

For example, it would not surprise me if there are not players on team who encountered Sandusky in his off-duty activities with young boys who were afraid to come forward and have been tortured with the secret for years.

So some reporting finally occured some action finally taken, but it seems it was the bare minimum and lives were damaged because of it.

I just can’t defend this because as a parent, we are constantly trusting the most precious thing in our lives—our children—to the care of others thru sports, school, church, etc.

If that trust is betrayed, it is beyond serious—not only for that family, or the institution, but for the entire society. That is why I am so incensed.

Yes, the city needs to be renamed to Cardinalpolis to fit their PC agenda. And a fir tree need to be planted in Monument Circle.

Yes, I'm watching the Stanford game now.

How many victims are there? In an ideal world the money would come out of the Athletic Department only, and IF there is any money left over, then scholarships may be awarded.

There’s your self-imposed death penalty.
