Nebraska 17, Penn State 14; Crowd Chants "We love JoePa."
The New York Times ^ | November 12th, 2011

A last-ditch drive ends in disappointment for Penn State, which loses to Nebraska, 17-14. Not having any timeouts crippled the offense, which completed two passes short of a first down, including one with seconds left, but couldn't stop the clock.

This is a different Saturday in State College. Immediately after McGloin's final pass fell incomplete, the Penn State crowd cheered the team's effort: the cheering grew to a roar as the two teams again met a midfield, such as they did right before the game.

Again, as occurred several times during the game, there were chants of "We love JoePa." Interviewed after the game, interim coach Tom Bradley said that what Penn State has gone through over the last week is "unprecedented in the history of college sports."

But around Penn State, he has acquired a status similar to that of Hitler or Bin Laden,

Dick's Sporting Goods customers?

You have a point.

Maybe I should say that the public perception is pretty similar, except that if Bin Laden or Hitler were out in public, there would be almost guaranteed violence; with Sandusky it’s just a possibility.

“Those poor dumb students do not realize how many time personal people will laugh at the resume and move on to the next applicant. “

Along those lines any resume that comes into my office where “Obama Campaign” or “Democrat volunteer” is listed in the work experience immediately goes to the circular file.

And when Paterno is accorded the same treatment

When? Not if? Do you have inside information?

Well, a local U got their own police 'cause they thought the city Police weren't providing enough service.

I'm sure that U's have plenty of problems and their priorities are different, but a private police force does tend to keep "happenings" out of the papers (not that we really have one of those anymore).

Media is spelling it both ways....touche.

The nation is watching this scandal unfold. Are we totally informed. No, No one is....new facts will very likely unfold, and I think there will be a boatload of indictments, lawsuits, and new allegations unless there is intervention by powerful forces.

You may think you are way more informed than those of us following this from a far; perhaps you are, perhaps not. You may not think you are defending him, but your posts might make some of us reading them come to a different conclusion.

I get school loyalty; attended 3 schools myself, kids have attended a total of 4 and counting. It is hard to read bad thins about a school you have had a relationship with....and attending or sending a child to college is a long-term relationship.

Sorry, but I, the uninformed, am not not biased and blinded by loyalty to a school or program. I am reading the articles, etc. as they are published; even CNN said the school officials and media may have handled this badly due to the iconic nature of the sport and coach.

My reading comprehension is fine.

You, however, may want to post a grammatically correct sentence if we are going to argue along these lines.

I agree with you. I thought there was a better “fiber” here at FR.

Absolutely.

And I can tell you for a fact that when the going gets tough for the OSUPD, they're on the horn to the CPD for assistance, tout de suite.

A program that covers up and enables the rapes of boys is headed for the death penalty. This scandal is just getting started.

A touchy-feely football Saturday does nothing to right the terrible wrongs perpetrated by Sandusky and those who covered for him.

Joe had a choice between one of love and honor or one of materialism (the football program) and self love (his idolization/appearances).

He chose materialism and self as his highest values. Not unlike most of America’s elite class. All that matters is money and self gain/gratification! It brought the banking system down and will ultimately, bring our nation down.

Media is spelling it both ways....touche.

Really? I can believe it, though, considering how shoddy their reporting has been so far.

Are we totally informed. No, No one is

That's what I've been trying to get through. I may know more than most, but even so, I still don't know enough to conclusively say anything.

You may not think you are defending him, but your posts might make some of us reading them come to a different conclusion.

I am more defending him from the notion that he is definitely guilty. He could very well be guilty; he may very well not be.

Sorry, but I, the uninformed, am not not biased and blinded by loyalty to a school or program.

I definitely do like Penn State, but I'll accept whatever the facts are and am not blindly loyal. If I was, I'd be defending Sandusky, Spanier, the administration, Schultz, etc.

even CNN said the school officials and media may have handled this badly due to the iconic nature of the sport and coach.

Yes, they did handle this poorly, and that is the general consensus in Happy Valley.

I'm going to make a bold prediction and say the pressure on the school to remove this statue will be so great, it will indeed be GONE before too long. Photobucket
