Palin's Withdrawal Means Obama Wins
American Thinker ^ | October 8, 2011 | Robert Eugene Simmons Jr.

Posted on 10/07/2011 11:31:56 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Unfortunately, it looks like the forces of smear, slander, and threat have finally claimed their intended victim. With Palin's announcement that she won't run for president, the election is essentially over.

The calculus is fairly simple: the media and GOP establishment want Romney to be the nominee. Once a progressive is at the head of the Republican ticket, low turnout for Republicans will hand a narrow victory to Obama.

So here is how the election will go. The media hasn't seriously opened up on Herman Cain, but most assuredly they will. Cain has been in business for decades, and the liberal media will troll through every relationship, every business deal, every word he has ever spoken. If that fails, the lies will start. To see evidence of this, we need not look at far as Palin. Rick Perry, another progressive, was attacked for something that someone painted on a rock on land his family leased out. That narrative will be used to attack both Perry and Cain -- Perry for having "allowed" it and Cain for making a big deal over "nothing." Both narratives will be forwarded, potentially in the same program. Once the liberal media goes through Cain's past with a fine-toothed comb, they will doubtless find disgruntled business adversaries, accusations of infidelity, and more.

If Palin had been in the race, the smear tactics would have failed, as the establishment and media threw everything they could possibly throw to get her out of the race. Who knows what her personal reasons, in her heart of hearts, were for not running? Perhaps she feared for the safety of her family. At any rate, there is no other conservative that has as much of a head start on the slander as Palin did....

I too think Newt is the best in the bunch, despite his shortcomings.

It is hard to understand why so many here are on the Cain bandwagon, he will not win the nomination and if by a miracle he did, he’d lose the election. He would get the full treatment from the folks who took on Dan Quayle, Sarah Palin, and Clarence Thomas. They’ll harp on his health and remind people constantly that he’s a businessman with no political chops. IMO his candidacy is totally unrealistic and everyone here is inhaling it deep.

Disagree that Bachmann has no experience. She’s tireless and committed to ridding us of Obama care. She simply has little experience with getting good results. :(

“I will not vote nor will I work for Romney. Many others will sit home as well.”

[So, you are voting for Obama, and the Destruction of the United States as we know it, then?]

The GOP has shoved a string of losers down our throats and the country is in a state of collapse because of it. Not voting for Romney will make no difference. Tell your country club Republican friends that we are staying home this time.

“Rick Perry, another progressive ...”

Rick “ponzi scheme” Perry, the guy who passed tort reform and more prolife bills than almost any other governor, a ‘progressive’ now? What silliness. Not a single real progressive in America would claim Perry as one of their own.

Perry’s funding means a campaign that will reach more voters. .... WOSG

Maybe but how many of his hard core base did he lose with his last debate and especially a very clear stand against a border fence and for amnesty? .... ExSoldier

First of all, Perry did not say anything about "amnesty". That is just a falsehood.

Secondly, funding allows commercials that allow complex issues to be explained outside these silly "30 Second Sound Bite" Contests that pass for "debates" in these days when "Where's the beef?" is considered a great moment in Presidential "debates".

Back in the days of the Lincoln-Douglas Debates, the first candidate spoke for 60 minutes, the second spoke for 90 minutes and then the first candidate spoke again for 30 minutes. Americans back then may their decision based on the full extent of information.

Today, far too many Americans make their decision by reacting to silly Sound Bites made during 30 second responses.

Fence = Good

"No Fence in the middle of the desert" = "He supports illegal immigration"

The fact of the matter is THE FENCE STRATEGY ADVOCATED BY PERRY IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE FENCE STRATEGY USED BY THE STATE OF ISRAEL.

One of my old Navy Captains used to say, "Load brain before firing mouth". However, "loading the brain" takes effort. Is is far easier to be a loose cannon and simply fire statements such as:

"No Fence in the middle of the desert sounds like the State of Israel supports Palestinian terrorist infiltrators to me".

"No Fence in the middle of the desert sounds like the Governor of Texas supports supports illegal immigration to me."

Here are the facts:

The map below represents the Israeli Fence on its southern border.

An Israeli Prime Minister would describe it like this:

"Strategic fencing along the border, especially in high traffic areas where manpower alone is insufficient to do the job."

That quote, however, are the words of Governor Perry.

In the areas corresponding to and extending 50 km (31 miles) from the high population areas of Gaza and the Gulf of Acaba shore, the Israelis have built their Fence.

In the middle of nowhere in the Negev Desert (which corresponds to the middle of nowhere in the Texas Desert), THE ISRAELIS HAVE BUILT NO FENCE.

That area can be easily patrolled with air assets and Israeli troops can be sent where needed to easily round up crossers struggling to travel through the middle of the Negev Desert. The Negev Desert region of the southern Israeli border is the EXACT equivalent of the Texas desert regions of the U.S. southern border.

Any crosser stupid enough to attempt to cross a well patrolled desert border is intercepted within an hour when helos appear overhead and "Boots on the Ground" follow shortly thereafter because Rick Perry made them available.

"Border Leader"

"Border"

Building a Fence in the middle of the desert does absolutely NOTHING since a Fence in the middle of the desert is defeated in seconds.

YouTube Video: Watch how fast illegal aliens can climb over, cut through and go under the worthless Border Fence

Why have the Israelis adopted this particular Fence strategy?

Because it WORKS.

The Israelis base their defense strategies on what WORKS and not on the knee-jerk emotionalism of "No Fence in the middle of the desert sounds like the State of Israel supports Palestinian terrorist infiltrators to me".

But, why shouldn't Texans just favor building a Fence along it's entire southern border just to please those who claim "No Fence in the middle of the desert sounds like Texans support illegal immigration"?

For very practical reasons.

1.) A FENCE IN THE TEXAS DESERT AREAS WOULD CUT OFF RANCHER'S CATTLE FROM THEIR RIO GRANDE WATER SOURCE.

2.) A FENCE IN THE TEXAS DESERT AREAS WOULD BE A MASSIVE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LAND GRAB THAT WOULD STEAL THE ENTIRE RIO GRANDE RIVERFRONT FROM RIVERFRONT PROPERTY OWNERS AND GIVE IT TO MEXICO.

I have no desire to nominate someone who can be defeated in the general election based on the stupidity of his own words. That was Cain's political inexperience showing. This statement was made during an interview, meaning it was not an off-the-cuff remark when confronted by a bunch of protesters:

I don’t have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration. Don’t blame Wall Street, don’t blame the big banks, if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself!

That'll go over real well in the general election, and it'll only get worse. My only glee here is watching Cain supporters constantly spinning to try and defend the things Cain has said. The inability of some Cain supporters to admit that he messed up is truly a sight to behold.

The long term answer might be a Third Party ticket.

Currently, we have one and a half parties: the progressive/communist demonrat party and the kinder, gentler "demonrat-lite" GOP.

The only real difference between the two is not the destination, as they both are headed off of the same cliff, but rather the speed.

The demonrats are hell bent for flying off the edge while GOP is going to sweet talk you into it and take you there slower so you don't fight it so much...you might even like it.

My hope was/is that the Tea Party is able to reform the Republican party and make it be the party of small government and sound fiscal policy, then use the party's political power to hit the Constitutional reset button and reboot the original Constitutional Republic operating system.

That's not going to happen with Romney, just like it wasn't going to happen with McCain or either Bush or with Dole or any other establishment GOP candidate, including Perry.

Rick Perry’s position is against amnesty, against the DREAM Act and for securing the border. His position on instate tuition and on the border fence is wrong imho, but his positions are not ‘open borders’, eg, he is for ‘strategic fencing’ not a full border fence.

I know its not satisfactory on this issue, but if it does come down to a guy who might not be strong enough on immigration but is otherwise conservative, vs Romney and the question of whether he will even 100% repeal obamacare, he’s a better choice for conservatives.

If not Perry, who? Right now, Cain is the surging candidate. But if he gets foot-in-mouth like Bachmann, then what?

“I don’t care about his funding. Word of mouth and the bloggers will overcome the media campaigns.”

True, but money helps.

What you said!

I like Sarah Palin. I don’t think she is Wonder Woman or the second coming. She is the candidate I can get excited about though.

I am an Independent voter. That doesn’t mean I vote for Democrats. It does mean that the Republican Party has to do much better than the current crop of candidates if they want me to vote for them. Like it or not, the Republican Party is solely and completely responsible for Obama being in office. The only intelligent thing McCain did during his campaign was bring Sarah on and then he negated that excellent decision when he allowed his staff to trash her.

Again, I am an Independent voter. Republicans can whine all they want. Give me a real candidate with real values or get lost.

I’m reading the comments before posting my on thoughts on this heap’o’manure article but I had to stop at your #9, which I agree with 100%.

To say that we can’t fight for our political freedom unless The One is our candidate is to sound EXACTLY like the democrats.

This is the “we need our own Obama” argument.

the 94 congress which newt lead, got a lot of things right and accomplished a great deal. Newt put together an excellent team of conservatives and did the nations work so IMHO he is a proven man. Unfortunately for him the back lash over Clinton’s impeachment did him and a few other very good GOPers in. IIRC Newt was not in favor of impeaching Clinton over lying about Monica but the GOP house insisted so he went along with them and payed the price. His “book deal” also smelled to high heaven particularly after going after Jim Wright for his smelly book deals, lol. But at least we can count on Newt to be a conservative, I’d love to see the SC after 8 years of Newt.

I think some people don’t seem to understand that “securing the border” is NOT synonymous to “build a fence whether it makes sense or not”. They prefer symbolism to reality.

Perry wants to secure the border the most effective way. He — as the governor of a border state and having lived in that state all his life — understands the issues more than any other candidates and he has done more to secure the border than any of the candidates.

That’s why Jim Gilchrist endorsed him:

“Of all the Republican candidates he’s the one who stands out the most on wanting to deal with this issue and put it to bed and resolve the problems,” said Jim Gilchrist, co-founder of the Minutemen Project, a Tea Party-aligned activist group that monitors activity along the U.S.-Mexico border.”

“She has said in the past that her ideal candidate is not someone seeking the office pandering to voters, but someone who is reluctant to serve and is found by the people and asked to make the personal sacrifice to serve. Ask that she make that sacrifice.”

She already considered and decided. You won’t change it. You haven’t thought through the fact that her making one decision, then changing her mind about it, will LOSE support, as people question her steadiness in making decisions. So her decision is final.

Better to simply thank her for considering it and let her know that if she ever runs, you will be a supporter. She aint a candidate for 2012, but that doesnt mean it cant open up some later time.

I don’t agree with your harsh assessment of Sarah Palin but I do agree that she will show just how relevant she will be in this campaign.

She will be a huge force in this campaign, despite her fair-weather bull-sh*t narcissistic “what’s in it for me?” former “supporters”.

Never was such a good person so cursed with such a lousy selfish shiftless worthless bunch of cry-baby “supporters”.

She’s going to show that shiftless bunch — just like she’s going to show the MSM — just how relevant she still is.

Go, Sarah, and FU wothless Palin critics of all political stripes. From DU to FR if you’re a lying Palin critic I say go take a flying f* at a rolling donut.
