Political logic and election law suggest that anyone hoping to make a serious run for the White House next year will need to be formally in the race by November.
Sarah Palin isn't so sure.
' The former Alaska governor appeared on Sean Hannityâs Fox News show on Tuesday, where she hinted ever so slightly that the current "unconventional" political landscape may allow for a later entry. (At the least, she has already proved that the current landscape has allowed would - be candidates to drag out their decisions much longer than one would expect.)
Here was her response to Hannity's first question about whether she was ready to jump in the race: "There is still time, Sean, and I think on both sides of the aisle youâre going to see people coming and going in this race. ... And I'm still one of those still considering the time factor."

But she’s verging! She’s verging! Alert the media! A verge is upon us.
Crap or get off the pot.......she cannot win.
This is non-sense. I watched her interview with Sean. The use of the word “hint” seems far fetched.
Only the Father in heaven knows the exact time and date of Sarah’s announcement. However odds are the time has been hastened with Perry’s poor performance tonight .
Palin would not win a 3 way race, she'd get crushed and probably just siphon off enough voters to help Hussein was re-elected.
“Right now Iâm sick of Rico Perry and his pro-amnesty statement..”
Sarah Palin on Immigration
Supports a path to citizenship, but no amnesty for illegals
Q: Should undocumented immigrants all should be deported?
A: There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant—there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants—not only economically is that just an impossibility but that’s not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue.
Q: Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 million undocumented immigrants?
A: No, I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. We have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.
Q: So you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
A: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

So in your CARTOON-LIKE view of Sarah Palin, you picture her pacing the house in circles saying:
"I can't decide!... If only I had one of them Magical 8-Balls... OK this one is for real, heads I go in, tails I don't.. (flips coin) DAMN! OK, two out of three!..."
Is that really & truly what you think is going on?
Don't you allow room for the possibility that there is some STRATEGY & TACTICS going on here?
I see the first line of attack by this corrupt media is to attack her marriage as was reported on my local FOX station
And on the day of this debate, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Boy, you really have Palin issues. The only ones who seem concerned about when Palin announces are those who don’t plan to vote for her in the first place.
She announces when she announces, and we will be really to support her to the fullest.
The new date is St Isidore of Seville Day. It IS April 4, but that doesn't matter if one is a True Believer.
If she gets in, it needs to be soon. She needs to prove she can survive these debate bloodbaths like Bachmann and Perry couldn’t.
So, her legacy would be to give Obama a second term?
That worked out well for Ross Perot, didn’t it, and he wasn’t even a celebrity.
It’s clear to this Palin supporter that she is waiting for the field to thin out before jumping in.
The Iowa and NH deadlines arent until mid-december. Michigan may upset the cart a bit, but I doubt it.
Oct. 31, Florida
Nov. 1, South Carolina
Nov. 18, New Hampshire
It’s a two-man race: Perry and Romney. If Palin gets in AT THIS LATE DATE (if she had gotten in months ago, things would have been different), all she is going to do is to syphon off just enough votes from Perry, for Romney to get the nomination — deja vu 2008, that’s who McCain got the nomination.
And Obama will beat Romney, just as he beat McCain.
Thank you Sarah, you are really helping the country, the Republicans and conservatives by ensuring another 4 years of Obama, because you can’t announce you are not running, don’t want to give up the spotlight.
If she announces at Christmas 2012 how would that work? A post-election campaign announcement that she's running for President in the campaign past? Only Sarah knows. This too shall be revealed all in due time.
Palin and Bachmann make great cheerleaders for Romney/ Rubio. IT IS OVER!!! Let’s get on the team and whip Hillary’s fat ass!! ( obama will resign for big money)
She might be right on the substance.
She’s not losing anything by being out. And, the Republican candidates are gelling. Things are looking good. The Republican party is where all the ideas and diversity are. The Democrats are wearing their playbook thin and grating on everyone’s nerves by sending out Battling Barack Obama to fulminate and hector.
But, w/r/t to the Republicans, I can’t help thinking that some combination of these candidates would be better than anyone of them alone. Newt’s a statesman. Bachmann’s a firebrand. Santorum is a man who gets values. Paul is a man who understands limits. Cain is a doer... If we could wrap them up into one.
Palin is letting them hammer out the opinions, politics, policies and beliefs, while nobody hammers her.
That seems smart to me. Apparently, her poll numbers are up, too.
Perry lost big tonight. He withered. Romney looked good tonight. He’s in command of himself. But, neither of them have sealed the deal. The race is still open. People are looking for a leader.
She might be it.
As for Palin’s “unconventional campaign”:
Fred Thompson Planning Unconventional Campaign
http://www.elephantbiz.com/2007/05/fred_thompson_planning_unconve.html
“Mike Allen at The Politico reports on the unconventional presidential campaign that former Sen. Fred Thompson is planning.
Thompson, his wife and advisers in Washington and Tennessee also are drawing up plans for a new style of campaign that would rely heavily on technology and his celebrity status to avoid some of the slogging through the snow in Iowa and New Hampshire that is normally required of White House hopefuls.
The advisers say Thompson, who plays District Attorney Arthur Branch on NBC’s “Law & Order,” is researching ways to use technology - including the Web, videoconferences and teleconferences - to harness the enthusiasm for his candidacy among grass-roots bloggers and activists. The campaign also would rely on large events, such as those that have in part supplanted country-store campaigning for some in the Democratic field.”
