The Candidates:
Michele Bachmann
Bachmann is serving her 3rd full term in the U.S. House. Founder of the House Tea Party Caucus, she earned a Master of Laws degree, worked as a tax attorney, and was a foster mother for 23 teenagers. She is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Herman Cain
Cain is the former chief executive of Godfather's Pizza and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He lost the Georgia Republican primary for a U.S. Senate seat in 2004. He was recently the host of Atlanta-based radio show.
Newt Gingrich
Gingrich served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district as a Republican member from 1979 to 1999. He has a PhD in modern European history.
Jon Huntsman
Huntsman was Utah Governor, former ambassador to China under Barack Obama.
Ron Paul
Paul is serving his 11th full term in the U.S. House. Hes an ob-gyn and was Libertarian nominee for president in 1988. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008

Rick Santorum
Santorum served two terms in the U.S. House and two terms in the U.S. Senate. He became the Senate's third-ranking Republican in 2001. He was defeated for reelection in 2006.
Well that is good to know. Some people here think that using your insurance makes the taxpayer pay.
So far so good. All the candidates were asked to respond to the question about Social Security. I give Gingrich two thumbs up for pointing out that Obama scares the American people every day, and that young people shouldn’t be scared by Presidents for the rest of their lives because he can’t guarantee that their checks will be sent out.
did you know there was an opt-out?
An opt-in would be stupid and I sincerely hope I don't have to explain why.
I agree. I don’t like our teens acting like adults, I am simply stating the facts. Getting God back into our lives is the only real solution on all levels.
Gov Palin has already called out Perry for crony capitalism long before tonight!
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Thats more info that wasnt explained during the debate...
that puts a different slant on things...
Anyhoo
Perrys love of the illegal aliens over Americans has rules him out for me
Is he wanting to be the POTUS of America
or ambassador to Mexico ???
You said more clearly what I meant in my post. She clearly is steering the debate and I admire her for that (as I admire her for almost everything she does!) And I will believe what you say: she will not go 3rd party.
Have a good night - it was a fun debate!
I want her to run. I’d pull the lever for her in a heartbeat. The fact is that as of today, right now, she’s not in the race. That leaves room for the people who ARE in the race to co-opt her ideas. That co-opting is a GOOD thing - they are good ideas and should be put forward by a Presidential candidate.
I hope she gets in soon but as it stands now, she’s not running.
Forget it....I read the rest of your chatter...
Other that my just posted ‘prior’ post, we can agree to disagreem Ma’am.
I do stand with what I said about a female POTUS and the ChiComs/NK/Iran/Saudis. And the FTZ extraterritorial, incremental takeovers. And that goes double for the Dem shemales.
I guess that yeah, I want John Wayne. Or especially Wyatt Earp. Things need clearing out and clearing up. It’s idealistic and perhaps silly, but there it is.
One of the reasons I do like Perry is because he did go to that prayer event this summer. Palin would have gone to something like that. I especially liked the fact that he just up and did it, like it or not.
Do you need water?
As a person who opposes school-required vaccine for Gardisil, and who has written about the somewhat inflated claims, and the higher-than-normal risk/reward curve, I still have to say that your comment is ludicrous.
It is NOT a "serious threat to life" -- There have been 34 million vaccinations, and there are 68 reported deaths. That is "high" to me, but hardly a "serious threat to life". As to your claim that it has no effect on cancer, even it's most vocal supporters admit that it does successfully block several types of HPV that cause cancer, and will prevent thousands of cancers a year.
You think maybe the media has built up this thing about Palin and Perry friendship?
Do they spend vacations with each other? Do the Perry children call Sarah Aunt Sarah?
Just sayin :)
[Gardisil doesnt protect against anything you get from a doorknob or from being sneezed on.]
You’re right, a doorknob doesn’t spread HPV, but the young teens engaging in oral sex in school stairwells does!! I do a lot of reading - 75% of young women have had oral sex - because they believe it is “safe sex”. Imaging that! Junior High School girls are ‘hooking up’......often now.
You may not have seen my other posts where I posted two links verifying this.
The HPV virus is incurable.......it’s a life time thing and can and does cause cancer.
I think it's the business of Texas what they want to do with their tax money. If they want to allow the children, as you stated, who have been going to school in Texas to continue their education (which they have to pay for themselves) then it's the business of TEXAS.
Has she given any specific examples?
Sorry you're feeling so insecure.
Hope it gets better.
She is making a mistake and will get us 4 more years of Obama.
Attack Perry even as Obama is trying to defraud us of another half Trillion dollars.
Have you read about Cain’s 9-9-9 plan?
Just finished watching the entire debate. I’d tivo’d it because of a meeting.
I had to fast forward through most of Huntsman...something about him just irks me.
It seemed like at least 3/4 people were in gotcha mode on Perry ... maybe because he’s the front runner.
I have to say that Michele Bachman offended me with her remarks about Perry on several occasions ... she was pretty ugly in her attacks.
Herman Cain was great... but no chance.
Romney was smooth..but that’s kinda his problem.
Didn’t care that much for Santorum tonight ... usually like him.
Newt definitely gets some zingers in.
Basically, I guess we have two candidates with a chance ... just my opinion. Taking out Huntsman, Bachmann, Cain, Santorum and (goes without saying) Ron Paul — his remarks on why muslims attack were unforgiveable, I see two viable candidates left standing.
Of course, the best candidate isn’t in yet.
A Massachusettes dude trying to discuss immigration problems with a Texas governor is just ridiculous.
And they didn’t let Perry respond after someone accused him of saying it was impossible to secure the border. He never said that ... he said it was hard and that Texas had no federal help.
