Update, 6:48 p.m.: Wildfires have consumed more than 6,000 acres in Bastrop County, and firefighters are still working to get the blazes under control.

WoW! This is the first that I’ve heard of fires today. I drove from my home, through Bandera,to Medina today. Nothing burning NW of San Antonio. Winds are intermittent.
More photos of the destruction...very bad situation.

Messkins have the trait of cavalierly tossing their cigarettes out of their cars. You can take them out of the third world but you can't take the third world out of them.
I’m out Wixon Valley way, and there’s been smokey haze here all afternoon.Has to be coming from the north, though, with the wind blowing it.
Well that sounds like an Obama excuse....it's Perry's state...he'd better at least address his people for crying out loud!
Wow, you were quoting the Bible earlier.
He’s just another one “I’ll vote for him if I HAVE to” guys...
We’re ALL sick of this! lol
:)
You have so many fires.....prayers for sure.
Just talked to son, he’s outside Marble Falls. They have two fires withing six miles, uncontrolled. No power which means no water (well).
Prayers for those who have lost homes/businesses in the fires, who have been evacuated and for those fighting the fires. Also for the Lord to end this drought.
Lord God,
We know you are keenly aware of these fires engulfing Texas areas and the terrible droughts throughout.... Peoples lives are in danger now Lord... so we ask for your protection for them as they battle this blaze and those who must flee it....give the firemen good discernment to make right calls in order to get this all contained...and move those out of harms way that need to go... give them all strength and wisdom as they travel to a safe place.
Provide and care for each Lord...until this has come to pass....In Christ’s name Amen.
So many fires in central Texas right now.
FFForFreedom...are you involved in these firefights? If so, please stay safe!
Luv, this is SO awful - I LOVE Texas - and am so sorry this is happening.
Oh YES, Lord - bring the much needed rain to my friends and to all the drought areas! This is reaching monumental destruction - and we beseech You to give them relief from this horrible drought! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Here’s a link to the National Interagency Coordination Center which shows all the major fires in the country:
The channel 8 weatherman just reported that no rain is expected in Texas for two weeks!
May the Lord Shower His Blessings on all of Texas. In Christ's Name, Amen.
AMEN!

Best wishes for all you TX FReepers and your families. I hope you stay safe and do not incur any damage.
Have been listening to the scanner up here in Pa. So very sorry you folks are contending with these awful conditions...announcer said wind gusts at 35 miles an hour.
Wind was out of the north today, abnormal for this time of the year.
Luv w,
...”three different wind shifts announced on the scanner”... so you folks in Texas be especially careful to get to safe places.....
My heart goes out to all facing these fires....may God grant all concerned a safe haven to flee to.
"Shouldnt Perry be doing something Governorish over this or something? Like GO HOME and ask for the tankers or use the national guard or SOMETHING????? ??????????????????"
My prayers continue for those in harms way in this horrible drought.
