That would be fairly unnerving for me. Glad you and the Mrs. made it thorough okay.
Just be glad you weren’t on or under that double decker section of freeway. Now that would scar you for life even if you did make it.

Need to see damage assessment. I can see new government spending demands to repair damages. Never let a good crisis go to waste.

Your son’s friend might be reconsidering that EQ wiring.
DH’s Aunt lives in Sunnyvale, CA. When she has come to visit us, she has looked oddly at a quilt rack/shelf that hangs over our couch. She always comments on ‘I could NEVER put something like that in CA...’ Lucky, this a rarity.
I did turn on FOX...Shep Smith was admonishing all the fraidy cats leaving the buildings, etc. Turned it off...came here to read about it instead (much, much better FReporting!)

Thanks for that link. I missed the whole thing. I checked in here after hearing that D.C. is so crooked even the Monument has an angle now.

Verizon was still out ten minutes ago. Modern communications can be really delicate to events like earthquakes, power issues, wars etc. In big events, cell phones/computers etc, are useless for most.
It's why I have HF ham radios, which all can be operated on 12 volt power. Eventually they will be solar powered to sustain/charge batteries etc.

I haven’t been off the local airport property yet, but if the rest of the area is similar, we fared pretty well. Minor cracks in walls, floors; pictures down etc

Odd thing happened here! My computer went offline at the same time my landline phone went dead. Theyre both TWC, so thats not very unusual. However, my cell phone also went dead at the same time, and its Sprint? Solar flare reach us??? Cleveland/Akron area, this morning.
To: Sub-Driver
Phone lines are probably not down, just over loaded. The key to calling out on a landline is to lift the receiver and wait for dialtone. May take 20 seconds. If you hang up you will lose your place in line. No joke. Landlines work mostly on a first come first serve bases. You will probably get a fast busy or nothing if you try to call the east coast. But calls to the west coast or anywhere out of the east coast will go through. We here in California have an out of the area contact for our families to call to keep in touch during a major quake.

Why did it feel like a nuke? Were you expecting a flash of light?
Sounds scary.
