DAMN
Think of the stimulus package 0 could put out, in rebuilding every government building from South Carolina to Maine, to make them earthquake-proof! And it will be presented to us as something that must be done TODAY or the world will come to an end.
Could be. Glad you don’t have to worry about liquefaction and flooding.
I bet DC burns tonight.
Fox is reporting 2 Nuclear Reactors are being taken off line as a precaution.
Good luck ever getting this administration to ever permit them to start up again.
Yes. Their behaviour is exemplary.
Actually, there have been 2 earthquakes in Florida history :-)
Historic US Earthquakes (Florida)
Ok...here’s my story.
I’m in Delaware.
A good half hour BEFORE earthquake my dog comes out from under bed where she normally sleeps. She comes out and just sits down and pants.
Now she does this sort of thing when there’s a thunderstorm as she scared to death of them. But normally she’ll come over and nudge my arm for me to pet her or make the thunder go way, I dunno.
So I’m thinking, what the hey’s wrong with the dog? it’s a beautiful day here in the swamps of Delaware, surely there’s no thunderstorm out there? dog will hear thunder far away and she reacts often before I know what’s going on.
But I get up and let the dog out to pee as I figure, well maybe she has to pee. Although, again, she usually noses the door if she needs to go out. Whatever the case, the dog just sitting in the middle of the floor and panting freaks me out.
So she does go pee but she doesn’t pee very long so I knew that wasn’t what was bothering her. But we come in back into my bedroom and she goes back under the bed. I go sit back down in the recliner. I proceeded to play a game on the puter and I’m listening to Rush.
Dog is still panting but she’s under the bed. I look around and she’s wide awake during this her normal nap time. she’s just sitting, panting, crouched, wary.
Point being I’m like really anxious already cause this is so not normal behavior for dog.
Suddenly the recliner chair begins to MOVE! and not just move....the table attached to the chair goes round and round and I jump up because damn....the recliner was moving, dear Lord what the hell would make a chair move like that?
I go running into my bathroom, figuring, okay, just let me pee and get away from the moving chair. For a full two minutes I was convinced there was some kind of animal in my chair and that was why the dog was so antsy. And the animal was moving around inside of the chair and I needed a minute to figure out just what kind of animal big enough to make my chair move got into the house and how could I get rid of it.
I come back and the chair is no longer moving. Cautiously I sit back down, wary cause you never know, the animal might still be in there. Then the guy filling in for Rush comes on the air and he says that HIS CHAIR STARTING SHAKING! He then says there was an earthquake in DC and, of course, dawn breaks over my marble head.
I go running down the hall to napping husband, screaming about earthquake, moving chairs and dogs going bananas.
That dog felt something, yes she did. The old saw is that animals can predict earthquakes and I believe it like I never believed anything.
This is just so exciting, scary, startling, shocking. I will never forget this as long as I live.
I am in Newport News, your uncle certainly got jarred, but I am sure he is fine.
Some people in Maine felt it.
Too many simultaneous call attempts. Use SMS text messaging. it’ll go through.
There's a link here somewhere... Just sayin'...
Yes..there is a fault line running through that area according to this site:

scroll down for map.
Likewise in Temple Hills, Maryland, just outside the DC beltway. Knocked some small stuff off bookshelves, but no major damage.
So you’re sayin’ you want God to zot you?
Yes, we definitely are earthquake snobs here. Anything less than a 7.0 and we yawn.
I moved here from Texas. When I felt my first tremor I practically dove under a table, and everyone laughed.
He also said not one felt in that region like that since 1895.
Looks like it went in two directions. Dunno why the west coasters are amused by this. They should be just as concerned as we are.
