What's stopping them from calling themselves “Democrats” instead?

When the Communists were in power they banned everyone else. So what’s their complaint?

It’s ok, I suspect most of the commies are here now.

Then round them up and, well, I’ll leave the rest your “collective” [cough, ahem...] imaginations...

Personally, I think the Czech Patriots should make every effort to identify any former member of the Czech communist party that had anything to do with the former communist government, arrest them immediately, and turn them over to the families and relatives of people that died under that reign of terror for a couple of hours.

Just a commie alone, with no comrades to support him, in a room with some pissed off and armed people who have dead, tortured relatives thanks to that ideology.

That’s REAL “social justice”, boys and girls.

Was that wrong? Was that harsh? Was that mean, insensitive and intolerant? Do I care?

Bravo for the Czechs. Any totalitarian gov’t should be banned and those that support them should be punished.

A part of me doesn’t like the idea of banning any party.

Several other parts of me would just as soon shoot all the commies as merely ban them.

Interesting how some countries see the communist party for what they are and our country, who has fought against communism doesn’t.

The problem with velvet revolutions is that the dirty SOBs survive to haunt you later.

Shooting the perps in the street makes for a more peaceful post-revolution period. Mussolini and Chauchesku ceased being a threat as soon as they hit room temperature.

“We are the party of the Czechoslovak proletariat and our general headquarters are in Moscow. And we go to Moscow to learn, and do you know what we learn? We go to Moscow to learn from the Russian Bolsheviks how to wring your necks.”

- Klement Gottwald Speech to the Czech Parliament in 1929 (Gottwald eventually became the leader of post-war Communist Czechoslovakia)

Russia will NOT be pleased, as they still support Communist parties outside of their near-abroad.

It’s common sense that totalitarian and revolutionary parties be banned. Or one with an armed “military wing”

A similar ban in this country would take out the Democrats, given their far Left tilt at this point in time.

I lived in the Czech Republic for nine years (2001-2010). Heh.....I actually taught a few English lessons through my old school for the General Secretary.

The problem with the KSCM (Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia) is that they’re essentially unreconstructed communists; they still adhere to the Leninist doctrine of armed revolution and insurrection. Simply put, they advocate overthrowing the government by armed force.

I asked my student (Mr. Meciar)why don’t they do away with that particular part of the Party program; he looked at me like I just stepped out of a UFO from Zeta Reticuli or something. As he put it, the KSCM are “ideologically pure and consistent in line with Marxist/Leninist principles”.

Now, here’s the best part!! He was so impressed with my lessons and teaching methodology (which was to engage him in political debates, which he genuinely enjoyed) that, without my knowledge, he recommended me to the North Koreans. So, one fine evening, I was sitting at home with my ex-wife in Prague, and the phone rings: she picks it up, and turns white as a ghost. She says to me, “Honey, the North Korean embassy would like to speak with you.” You could imagine my surprise! So, I spoke to a gentleman from the DPRK Embassy in Prague, and he extended an invitation for me to come and teach English to “’high ranking Party and military leaders’”.......IN PYONGYANG!!! And my ex-wife could come with me, of course. I told the gentleman I’d have to speak to my wife first, and I’d get back in touch with him. So, I asked my ex, “Whaddaya say, pumpkin? Wanna take an all-expenses paid trip to lovely Pyongyang for a one-year teaching assignment?” (Tongue-in-cheek, of course) Her response was, “Do you want me to kill you in your sleep tonight?” Needless to say, I declined, and I would’ve anyway, because I had the sneaking suspicion that if I, as an American, went over there I’d have my passport taken and conveniently “misplaced”. Forever.

So, I thus missed my chance (along with my ex!) for that prime spot on the reviewing stand next to Dear Leader.

Being an American expat English teacher?

Greatest. Job. Ever.
