Yep, few if any Republicans seem to survive their sexcapades in the House. Newt and his expected successor from Louisiana are two more examples (Livingston?).
Republicans see politics as a hobby. Democrats see it as a career.
This is why Republicans are more likely to resign in the face of a scandal like this, and are more likely to pressure fellow Republicans to resign. Do some research on Anthony Weiner's Tony Dick's biographical information, and it will become crystal clear. He majored in political science in college, and had aspirations to be a television weather reporter. He ended up migrating to politics when that didn't work out.
For 6+ years (1985-91) he worked on the staff of Chuck Schumer, and since then he's spent the last 20 years in politics, first as a New York City council member, then as a Congressman.
In other words, this guy would probably be unemployable if there was no such thing as a "government official."
When a Democrat accepts full responsibility, it goes with out saying... "I accept full responsibility as long as there are no consequences."
It was pointed out to Craig that his airport arrest was likely unconstitutional, because Article I Section 6 Clause 1 says:
"They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place."
Since Craig was traveling back to Idaho after the close of a session of the Senate, it was thought that he was immune to arrest.

Larry Craig announced his resignation in September 2007 but did not leave office until January 3, 2009 the very same day his term ended.
Leaving your seat when your term is over is not considered a resignation.
Yep, and I'm wondering why more people aren't drawing comparisons to Chris Lee's resignation back in February.
Lee's one known indiscretion might have been as bad as any one of Weiner's six, but Weiner's six and days of lying about the first known incident until more women came forth seems to add up to far worse misbehavior than Lee's.
But I'm really surprised that more commentators aren't recalling Lee's situation for comparison.
Craig did not resign. He chose not to run for re-election. I suspect that’s going to be what becomes of Weiner.
I guess I forgot the final outcome, since he went through the resignation routine and a successor had already been chosen by the Governor of Idaho. It was a disgusting story and I generally don’t follow them in detail, but wait for the final outcomes.
If a Republican, it'd be more like: can ____ survive this, and then they'd have a discussion of why the Republican probably wouldn't survive.
Hells-bells, they’d be demanding his resignation.
Of course not. A Democrat will always get a pass from the MSM, because even if they're perverts, they're not HYPOCRITES, according to the media. They go after Republicans, because the GOP is considered the party of 'family values', and if someone does something to violate those values, then they should be excoriated, and run out of DC on a rail!

You might want to check out one of those things called a “map”.
The story seems to end in late February, 2011 when two transgender women said they could prove that Lee had contacted them. Looks like there was more to the story. And there's probably even more to the Weiner story. Once someone gets into this sort of thing it usually involves multiple incidents over a period of time (until they get caught).
