Sometime back, I saw (and immediately loved) an image created by fellow Freeper E Pluribus Unum. It was a picture of Sarah Palin at the Presidential podium. with the caption: "in·eluc·ta·ble adj: not to be avoided, changed, or resisted: inevitable."
This fit perfectly with my own views on the subject of who should be our next President. Yet, I had to ask myself, why do so many staunch conservatives believe that Sarah is "unelectable?" My own wife, who began her political activities as a Goldwater Girl at a time when I was still dumb enough to be an "Active Young Democrat" for LBJ, is completely convinced that, thanks to the relentless media attacks, she is "damaged goods" and will never be able to overcome the many negatives that have been piled upon her. So, I have to ask myself, how can I be so convinced that President Palin is ineluctable? Today I saw the start of "rolling thunder" and it all suddenly became clear.
Anyone who has read, seen or heard Shakespeare's Henry V (and, if you haven't, I urge you to immediately procure a copy of Kenneth Branagh's magnificent film of the same) might remember the Prologue to Act IV, where King Henry goes through his camp, visiting each member of his army on the eve of battle. Weary, weakened by hunger & disease, they were facing a battle with an army, "all fresh," that outnumbered them more than five to one. The King goes from campfire to campfire, so "that mean and gentle all behold, as may unworthiness define, a little touch of Harry in the night." The next day, his exhausted army won one of the greatest victories in history, leaving the field strewn with several thousand of the cream of French nobility, while losing less than 30 of their own.
Now most historians give credit for the victory to the awesome power of the English longbow and its yard-long "grey goose shaft," capable of piercing plate armor. While that certainly was a factor, you have to ask yourself, why did they even stand and fight? I believe it was that "touch of Harry in the night" that gave that exhausted band the passion to stand and never yield.
Which brings me to the answer for why I see President Palin as "ineluctable" - what you see at "Rolling Thunder" is the effect that a "Touch of Sarah" has. As the campaign progresses, more and more, believers and doubters both, will experience it - and that "Touch of Sarah" will bring forth such a force that even the most relentless media attacks will be powerless to stop it.
In November 2012, we will take our country back!
Only difference is Sarah’s army is waiting in Valley Forge.

This is a question I've often pondered. Aside from liberal plants and a few misogynists on FR making 'Palin can't win' posts, I have to believe that those on the right who think this way have bought into the liberal attempts to characterize Sarah Palin as a 'loser'. They seem to believe that the MSM is all-powerful and if liberals call Sarah Palin 'dumb' and 'unelectable' and that 'no one likes her' it must be so. That is simply wrong. Sarah Palin proves it every time she makes an appearance. She'll be ultimately victorious in 2012 and many of those on the right now claiming "she can't beat Obama" will forget all that and, after the 2012 election results are known, celebrate Sarah Palin as the first real conservative president since Ronald Reagan, right along with the rest of us at FR. I'll bet your wife will be celebrating, too.
Was EPU the first one to say Palin was ineluctable? My hats off to whoever was. It’s brilliant. I love turning stuff around like that.

Well, since our own betty boop uses that word in some of her essays, I’d have to gusess it was she who first used ‘ineluctable’ regarding Sarah Palin.

All I got out of the press she’s gotten for Rolling Thunder is the question: Why did a woman who thinks that a leather jacket is too hot to wear on a late Spring morning buy a home right outside of Phoenix?
I too thought I was a young Democrat at one time but while driving, my almost 1 hour trip to and from work, I began listening to WZYP talk radio in Huntsville, Alabama to pass the time. One of the early talk radio DJ’s there was none other than Sean Hannity. I began to hear the issues for the first time in my political life and I started to realize that my core beliefs and values were not of those of the Democrat party. In fact I found that all my beliefs were those of the conservative right. Today I could not be further to the right. I am a constitutional conservative and I was born that way. I just didn’t know which party stood for what until that time.
Time Zone management.
I am a Sarah fan but totally non committed in 2012 at this point. We have to recognize that electing Palin is quite possible, but also is going to take a great campaign on her part and an incredible ground game on ours. The other side will not only be highly motivated but also bring out all the stops to prevent a conservative woman to succeed in politics.

With thinking and attitudes like that, it is no wonder any Democrat wins no matter how weak or poor. We choose not to compete.
This nonsense must stop. One of the reasons republicans do not compete is they like being in second place. That way they don't have to take the heat and there is lots of it from the democrats.
Wake up America. Republicans are our only hope pf surviving as a viable nation. They must stand up and hold to their position, and be steadfast.
God help us during this dangerous, perilous time, amen.

Sarah Palin strikes a chord in Americans like no other living politician, and she’s also got the right experience, temperament, and professional qualifications we need in a 21st century CIC.
I firmly believe that if she stands for office, the American people will elect her by a large margin.
If you don't know the answer to that, then you must be new to US politics. I suggest you spend more time reading at this forum. It's a sure-fire cure for what ails you.
“Once more into the breach, dear friends” will be twisted into “once more into the bitch, dear friends” by the MSM and Palin will be shot at from every quarter, including conservatives like George Will. Will she become like El Cid, dead to America’s electorate but tied to her horse to raise her people’s morale? Who knows! I personally think (I’ll spare you with this last allusion) she will become Vice President with Mitt as President because the electorate will go “medieval” over Obama.
