Perry must be a "RINO" -- Just imagine, famous liberal "RINO", Rush Limbaugh wants him to run. (/sarc -- for those who keep repeating that Perry is a RINO, even though he isn't. He is fiscally conservative and pro-life)

Pardon for repeating myself from another thread, but Perry can beat Romney and can beat Obama. If Perry is not in the race, Romney walks away with the nomination, then loses big to Obama -- in my opinion, of course, but also common sense would indicate that these are the two most plausible scenarios.

Perry or Romney

And Perry or Obama.

I don’t know much about Perry. Is he a Constitutional Conservative or just another big government conservative?

James Richard “Rick” Perry

born March 4, 1950 in Paint Creek, TX (Meets the Jus Soli Requirement)

Parents were
Joseph Ray Perry born 1925 in TX
Amelia June Holt born 1928/9 in TX

Both parents were US Citizens at the time of his birth (Meets the Jus Sanguinis Requirement)

Rick Perry is a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN unlike Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama.

Those who squeal “RINO” at everything moving believe 90% of the party is RINO and generally are the Lovers of Losers whose favorites are either: A) unknowns; B) amateurs; C) both; D) so far to the Right that they won’t get more than 2% of the votes in a general election.

Come on in Rick, the water’s fine. Besides every additional name on the ballot makes it easier for Sarah to win since it makes her cadre of devoted supporters more important. No other candidate has as many devoted to them.

Rush supports Perry? Color me disappointed. We don't need another warn-and-fuzzy "compassionate conservative" Texan, thanks. Running GWB II against Obama would make us very weak if he somehow won the primary. We already have plenty of go-along-to-get-along Republicans running for President. Nobody's right 100% of the time though. I've seen worse, like all the conservatives who endorsed Romney in '08.

I can't see a single quality Perry would add to the existing 2012 field. As for the existing 2012 choices, he's actually sort of a hybred of Romney (good looks, smooth talker, flip-flopper ex-liberal) and Pawlenty (boring, dry, somewhat acceptable right-of-center record), although both of them have won in RAT states and all Perry has proven is he can win in a heavily GOP state with an "R" next to his name when he has weak "opponents". Maybe he'll draw votes from both of them and split the establishment GOP vote more.

Now if we can only recruit a GOOD reliable conservative with little baggage and a track record of beating tough RATs to run for President. I have yet to see any emerge.

All the Texas Freepers seem to think Perry is a RINO. They should know. He sponsored the Trans Texas Corridor and he was invited to and attended the 2009 Bilderberg meeting. Not great conservative credentials. I did hear Rush speaking about Perry the other day and I was suprised he was so positive about him.

If Perry had come out today swinging at the DOJ over that TSA bill I might have been able to get a little tingle down my leg but as far as I know he did not.

BS. Perry is a Rino. He wanted the open highways corridor. If that isn’t one world government; I don’t know what is.

.

Where is all this hate and venom spewing coming form re;
Rick Perry? Every time he is mentioned, this board turns into something resembling DU.

A lot of it is coming from my fellow Texans- and the fact that you would tear apart our own governor is puzzling and embarassing.
What is it, really?
Is it the sour grapes Debra Medina fans?
What?

Look, I love Sarah as much as any of you, and I think Cain is a nice guy and a fine American, but sadly, we have to face the facts that these two are not electable.
They are just not.
Do you WANT another four years of the Marxist/Muslim usurper?
If not, then we need to start thinking of a man who CAN defeat him.

Rick Perry makes mistakes.
They all do.
He knows he should not have pushed the vaccine and the hiway thing. If that’s the worst thing he’s done, I can live with that.
It’s true he seems to slide to the left now and then, but a good slap upside the head by the people sets him straight back on the Conservative course. At least he LISTENS to the people.

Rick Perry is not a perfect candidate, but such a candidate does not exist and never has. But Perry is one of the few potential candidates with both the skill and record to build a credible national effort quickly, and turn the national political landscape around in his favor. If he were to run, Rick Perry would be a very strong candidate.

The evidence points to Mitt Romney being able to win the general election. There are always internet blowhards who will huff and puff and scream that they'll never vote for him in the general election. Some are telling the truth. Others are just making threats to try to keep him from being nominated. So-called "tea party voters" who don't bother to educate themselves about the candidates may look for a third-party candidate and deliver the nation back to Obama the way that they did in NY26 this week.

Much will happen between now and November 2012. If the economy recovers, Obama probably wins another term no matter who is running for the GOP. Of course, many Obama policies seem designed to destroy our economy. Maybe his zeal to harm this country will doom Obama's chances at a second term. If the economy becomes much worse, the Republicans might be able to win with any nominee. If things are about the same as they are now, the race will be close.

I haven't looked closely at Governor Perry and have nothing against him. From what I've seen, I'd be happy to support him in the general election. Swing voters in states like Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania may be hesitant to support another Texan. I see no reason to believe that he'd be more electable than Mr. Romney is. Mitt Romney leads Obama by six points in Michigan. He leads by a point in Pennsylvania where Obama's approval is around 42%. He is the closest candidate to Obama in Ohio.

“We must do a better job of stopping those who seek to come into our country illegally. I support strict border enforcement programs such as Operation Hold the Line, which concentrate border patrol officers and resources at known border-crossing points. I believe it is far more compassionate to turn away people at the border.”
— George W. Bush “A Charge to Keep”, p.237. Dec 9, 1999

“I don’t believe we ought to have amnesty. I don’t think we ought to reward illegal behavior. There are plenty of people standing in line to become a citizen. And we ought not to crowd these people ahead of them in line. If they want to become a citizen, they can stand in line, too. Kerry supported amnesty for illegal aliens.”
— George W. Bush, 3rd Presidential debate, in Tempe AZ Oct 13, 2004

“Keeping America competitive requires an immigration system that upholds our laws, reflects our values and serves the interests of our economy. Our nation needs orderly and secure borders. To meet this goal, we must have stronger immigration enforcement and border protection. “
— George W. Bush, 2006 State of the Union Address Jan 31, 2006

“America needs to secure our borders—and with your help, my administration is taking steps to do so. We’re increasing worksite enforcement, deploying fences and advanced technologies to stop illegal crossings.”
— George W. Bush, 2008 State of the Union address to Congress Jan 28, 2008

According to Rick Perry supporter logic, Bush made it clear he supports securing the border and is against amnesty. Since he said it, there’s nothing to worry about.

I would vote for Perry if Palin was not in it. He would put boots on the ground to control our borders. He has experienced insulting conduct by Zer0 and knows the over-reaching unconstitutional hand of the federal government. Perry knows that the only way that the states can reestablish the autonomy as delineated by the Constitution is by the removal of the Obama Regime. He is prepared to do it if no one can rise to the challenge.

I know Perry is not the perfect candidate. However, he has shown many of us again, that when one assumes the office of governor in the second largest state (Alaska being the largest), they have shown great leadership ability to do the job.
