Where is all this hate and venom spewing coming form re;
Rick Perry? Every time he is mentioned, this board turns into something resembling DU.

A lot of it is coming from my fellow Texans- and the fact that you would tear apart our own governor is puzzling and embarassing.
What is it, really?
Is it the sour grapes Debra Medina fans?
What?

Look, I love Sarah as much as any of you, and I think Cain is a nice guy and a fine American, but sadly, we have to face the facts that these two are not electable.
They are just not.
Do you WANT another four years of the Marxist/Muslim usurper?
If not, then we need to start thinking of a man who CAN defeat him.

Rick Perry makes mistakes.
They all do.
He knows he should not have pushed the vaccine and the hiway thing. If that’s the worst thing he’s done, I can live with that.
It’s true he seems to slide to the left now and then, but a good slap upside the head by the people sets him straight back on the Conservative course. At least he LISTENS to the people.

Rick Perry is not a perfect candidate, but such a candidate does not exist and never has. But Perry is one of the few potential candidates with both the skill and record to build a credible national effort quickly, and turn the national political landscape around in his favor. If he were to run, Rick Perry would be a very strong candidate.

Could you please elaborate further? In particular, I'm curious why you think Sarah Palin is not electable.

I don't hate Perry. I'd vote for him over Obama if I had to. I endorsed him over his RAT opponents. I just think he's a mediocre politician and I see no reason to "draft" him for the Presidency and add another lame establishment Republican to the race. You'll just muddy up the field further with lousy candidates.

And Perry is "more electable" how? He won in ultra-Republican Texas with an "R" next to his name against very weak opponents. So what? Perry will be hammered by the Obama campaign as a clone of George W. Bush and I don't think that will play well in the other 49 states. Aside from that, what exactly would Perry bring to the primary that we don't already have with other right-of-center conservative Governors like Pawlenty?

Absolutely true.

Unfortunately, some people prefer to live in dreamland under Obama, than face reality and do something about saving the country, by nominating someone, who can defeat Obama and get the country back on track. I think Perry has a record in Texas that gives me hope that he could do it.

I like what you said. I also prefer another cowboy (or cowgirl) in the White House rather than a four-year repeat of the girly guy we have now.

Rick Perry is not a strong national candidate. What possibly makes you think he is?

I agree...he would be a strong candidate. Much better that Romney (who I’d have a real hard time voting for) and conservative enough for me to support. But I can understand why people dislike aspects of him. Either way he’d be capable of garner enough base support and indies...as long as his running mate was REALLY conservative. Perry/Palin would win and would have a long-term effect on the way forward ie Palin would be a shoe-in in the future. If it’s Palin, then I’m assuming Perry maybe a good VP as well.
