Yes, of course, your are right in saying that people can change. I think, though, I will need to learn a whole lot more about him if he does run. It sure smells like he is, I must say.
Thanks for a good discussion.
Thank you for the discussion. I hope that the Republican race will become much more interesting in the next couple of months. I look forward to reading what is said here and learning more about the people running here on FR than I would anywhere else.
I agree...he would be a strong candidate. Much better that Romney (who I’d have a real hard time voting for) and conservative enough for me to support. But I can understand why people dislike aspects of him. Either way he’d be capable of garner enough base support and indies...as long as his running mate was REALLY conservative. Perry/Palin would win and would have a long-term effect on the way forward ie Palin would be a shoe-in in the future. If it’s Palin, then I’m assuming Perry maybe a good VP as well.
Have you seen a poll that indicates she’ll win over indies in the election? I know she’ll win the base, but we do need the indies as well.
I agree.
Sure I have, but the poll I'm recalling didn't ask Independents whether they support Sarah Palin. It asked whether they support Barack Obama, and according to that poll, he's lost a ton of support from the political middle. His polling average (from many different polling outfits) bears this out.
Sarah's going to have 18 months to talk to those people, and give them a reason to vote FOR her, instead of simply voting against Obama (or even staying home).
The real Palin Fever hasn't even begun. When it does, it's going to build and build - growing like a snowball rolling down a hill. A LOT of Independents and squishy middle types are going to get caught up in the massive eruption of enthusiasm to get a Reaganesque leader in the White House.
