I-44 in the Miami, OK area was shut down due to automobiles being blown off the highway.
I’ve been trying desperately to reach my mother-in-law and sister-in-law in Joplin. They live on Texas Street. If anyone has any news of that area, I would appreciate hearing from you. My mother-in-law is crippled and in a wheel chair. Her daughter lives with her, but her health is not so great either. I guess all the phone lines are down, because I can’t reach anyone there.
Yep, I’ve been out rubbernecking. I only went down to 20th. My ex who lives 30 miles east, had paperwork from the hospital landing in his yard. I hear the hospital got hit hard, it’s on 32nd street.
I got as far as 20th and so much debris I was afraid to pop a tire, that and all the other rubberneckers blocking the road and the poor people that got hit walking around, checking on each other, I started to feel bad being in the way so headed back home.
Oh Wow. Joplin got hit hard, area of 26th and Maiden (?), per weather channel stream.
Sirens going off here, now (Siloam Springs, AR/West Siloam Springs, OK)
We will pray for them. We went through this here in Alabama a couple of weeks ago. It will take a year or more to get any where close to back where the area was. Many homes destroyed. Thousands and thousands of trees down. They have talked about some type of program to harvest all those downed trees and replanting. Many homes totally gone and people have no insurance.
I’ve emailed friends and am trying to get a prayer thread going for all those in Joplin.
Hwy 59 in the Jay, OK area has been closed due to debris and damage.
Possible rotation developing just west of Bentonville, AR in the Centerton area (about 4 miles), moving east.
I saw coverage of this on TWC. It looks horrible.
Sirens on again in Siloam Springs, AR area. Rotation just to west of the area.
I was watching those nasties on radar. Pretty obvious rotation. Looked pretty big, too.
We just heard from all of our relatives in Joplin. Aunts and Uncles are okay. The neighborhood across the street from them is destroyed. So relieved that everyone is okay. Saying prayers for all of you that haven’t heard from friends/family yet and all those affected by this evening’s storm.
Lived in Joplin for several years, got married at our house on Connecticut Street just off Rangeline. Used to hang out at Denny’s playing cards and drinking coffee. I don’t recognize anything they’re showing on the news right now.
