AP sources: US closer to calling for Assad to go

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is edging closer to calling for an end to the long rule of the Assad family in Syria. Administration officials said Tuesday that the first step would be to say for the first time that President Bashar Assad has forfeited his legitimacy to rule, a major policy shift that would amount to a call for regime change that has questionable support in the world community.

If the Syrian government persists with its harsh crackdown on political opponents, the U.S. could be forced into choosing between an undesired military operation to protect civilians, as in Libya, or an embarrassing U-turn that makes it look weak before an Arab world that is on the tipping point between greater democracy or greater repression.

Another war? Which countries are we at war with again? I keep missing the Congressional declarations of war somehow.

Unlike Libya, a war against Syria WOULD require lots of ground troops. First, we would have to protect the Iraqi-Syrian border. Second, we would have to send in troops to serve as a buffer between Syria and Israel. Third, we would have to invade Damascus.

If Assad and Ahminabajob both go it would be a terrific blow to my grand conspiracy theory. Ahminabajob is a 12er, and Assad is an Alawhite. Alawhites are not muslims, it is a strange and secret religion. We know little about the religion because it is so secret. They appear muslim on the outside only so they won’t be oppressed so much. The little we know was told to the world by one guy who was then tortured and killed over a slow fire. The holidays are a mixture of muslim, Christian and Manacheism. Check it out, its very interesting. And if you like that, check out the Druze: another strange and secret religion in Syria.

Meanwhile, in America, bert said on Free Republic “By failing to enforce the immigration laws, civil rights laws and the Defense of Marriage Act, the terminally corrupt Barack Obama has forfeited his right to rule.”

On 5Jun42 (against Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania) was last time a formal declaration of war was issued by the Congress of the United States of America.

The Korean War was a United Nations' "police action" ... the involvement in Libya is a "kinetic military action" ... if Syria is next, expect another moniker.

So $300M a week in the Obama Libya excursion isn’t enough? And they said the Afgan/Iraq war was a waste.

Better start teaching the kid to fake a good Canuck accent while you’re at it, there is no way the US is going to extricate from the ME and North Africa now without a ground war, even if Obama loses reelection, thanks to numbnut warmongers like McCain on the RINO side of the aisle.

Repeat after me:
Aboot tiim fawhr sum
Timmy Hortons
eh?

ASSad is unfortunately not the right branch of radical Islam. Obama wants a more acceptable radical Islamist in that position.

I’m gonna get a chuckle royale when a bunch of these “leaders” get together and start calling for Obama to step down. Kind of surprised they have not been bitching to the U.N. already.
