Eric Holder: Black Panther case focus demeans 'my people'
Politico.com ^ | March 01, 2011 | Josh Gerstein

Attorney General Eric Holder finally got fed up Tuesday with claims that the Justice Department went easy in a voting rights case against members of the New Black Panther Party because they are African American.

Holder's frustration over the criticism became evident during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing as Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) accused the Justice Department of failing to cooperate with a Civil Rights Commission investigation into the handling of the 2008 incident in which Black Panthers in intimidating outfits and wielding a club stood outside a polling place in Philadelphia.

The Attorney General seemed to take personal offense at a comment Culberson read in which former Democratic activist Bartle Bull called the incident the most serious act of voter intimidation he had witnessed in his career.

I wonder what would have happened in the civil rights days if the - then - white President said he wouldn't bother them because it "demeans my people"?

I swear sometimes that watching this administration is like watching the old "Amos 'n' Andy" show on TV...with obama as George Kingfish Stephens, and Holder as lawyer Algonquin J. Calhoun. (Those of you over 50 know what I'm talking about.)

AFTER 2012

“director of civil rights and urban affairs and director of environmental justice for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency”

If the House doesn’t vote to eliminate that position, they’ve missed a golden opportunity to zero out corruption and worthlessness in government.

Will he offer up the usual “I’m sorry if anyone was offended” non-apology?

Obama as kingfish

Good analogy!

Im 40, but I know that poor ole Andy got lured into Kingfish's fast money making schemes. Thank goodness for TV land.

From the Politico???

Wow...scales are dropping from the eyes. Holder will be tendering his resignation, when???

I suspect that you are reading too much into this.

My guess is that Politico published this story because the tone-deaf leftist editors actually believed that it showed Holder in a good light, standing up to those mean, racist, white Republicans...

"Eric Holder: Black Panther case focus demeans ‘my people’"

So if the Black Panthers are Holder's "my people"...are they now promoted to FBI irregulars?

Look to see the new "FBI Irregulars" out and about in your home town soon.

to compare what people subjected to that with what happened in Philadelphia, which was inappropriate...

So, imagine if some racist Aryan Brotherhood scumbags pulled the same act of intimidation to keep black people from voting. No doubt Holder would have called it "inappropriate", but would have found no reason for the Justice Dept. to prosecute the violation of the Voting Rights act, because it would have been too trivial an act to warrant Federal involvement.

Riiiiigggggghhhhhhttttt...

I agree with the violence you mentioned. They will get violent.

I also agree that the destruction of the family unit was a goal. It’s my take that the welfare wasn’t initially set up to destroy the family, but I could be wrong about that

Seeing that quote means that ‘my people’ does not mean ‘my Justice Department people’, or ‘my Democrat people’ or any of the more acceptable meanings, including ‘my Southern people’ (he is from the Bronx, NYC and his folks are from the Caribbean).

I do not think welfare was originally intended, by those supporting it, to destroy families.
And I don’t think many rank and file sheeperals today realize the damage that it has done.

But, like anything in a fallen world, (unions, for example), things initially intended for good will get corrupted by sinful man into policies of self serving and wickedness.

hate the term too,.
African Americans can be white and using that term to point to blacks is pure stupidity and ignorance .

My pals from Africa who became American are white and are pissed off with it too. One of them told a black woman that he was from Africa and she said you can’t be you’re white.

Still the left have never be known to be that bright anyway.
