From FOX:
DEVELOPING: Loud explosions and gunfire were heard in the Egyptian capital of Cairo Friday, as protesters demanding the removal of President Hosni Mubarak defied a curfew, Al Jazeera reported. Egyptian television reports the ruling party headquarters in Cairo are on fire.

Do we have any idea whether the army itself would be pro-Islamist or pro-Western?
Now they are being more than stupid!
Get out the yellow ribbons again.
True, but on CNN earlier I saw a column of tanks moving down a street next to a river.
We shredded when we left Iran, they put the paper back together, maybe this time we should burn.

It's the difference between China and Tienanmen Square and Russia and the Berlin Wall.
Remember, these aren't the disenfranchised who are protesting; it's the middle class. Middle class uprisings are different; they're made up of merchants and doctors and lawyers and tradesmen who have a vested interest in stability. When they're willing to risk that stability, things change, and usually for the better.
(This is one reason why those in power, from Rome to monarchies to socialists, all loathe the middle class and seek to destroy it.)
Exactly. I could not believe it when I heard earlier today that our embassy had not been evactuated and no plans for an evacuation at that time. *&^%ing Obama! Does history teach us nothing?
It was the street on CNN now.
We watched that. I suppose it was nervous laughter that I heard...they sounded like they have it together a lot better than I would if I were in their shoes. I would have booked a flight out of there as soon as I landed and saw protestors!
Well, that could be Elvis leaving the building.
Why you *(&P P&P&U O!##! %%%!

Here’s an interesting angle from Larry Kudlow, asking if the rising commodity and hence food prices fueled by Ben Bernanke’s quantitative easing may have been a cause of the unrest/toppling:

Ooo, cooties. LOL
Take care Smogger.
Intelwire on twitter stated that AQ is moving jihad funds from Iraq to the following countries:
Yemen, Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Somalia, Jordan.
Found it interesting that Foxnews put up a map showing the following countries currently in unrest:
Algeria, Tunisia, Cairo/Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon.
It appears another country in the Middle East/North Africa is going to be under the thumb of Muslim extremists.
Since WWII we have fewer Christians and Jews in these Muslim dominated countries.
Yep, and get Ted Kopple awake and ready for the late night camera!
Thank you very much for your assessment.
