Do we have any idea whether the army itself would be pro-Islamist or pro-Western?

Senior officers are pro-Western. Troops are conscripts so they are most likely pro-Islamist. The problem is nobody knows where the second lieutenants are going to fall. And right now a very junior officer in charge of a tank platoon changing sides could start a war.
