• Jumps in Central Valley • Six counties now have at least 20 percent unemployment

California’s unemployment rate increased to 12.5 percent in December, although nonfarm payroll jobs increased by 4,900 during the month, according to data released Friday by the California Employment Development Department from two separate surveys.

The U.S. unemployment rate decreased in December to 9.4 percent.

In December 2009, the unemployment rate in California was 12.3 percent. The unemployment rate is derived from a federal survey of 5,500 California households.

The jobless rate jumped in all but one Central Valley county last month. The only county to see a decrease was Sacramento. Merced County topped the 20 percent mark for jobless adults.

Remember, they only count people who are receiving an unemployment check. If your unemployment has run out, if you are living on savings and never applied for it, if you graduated from school and can’t find work and don’t qualify for unemployment, you are not counted as “unemployed”.

That 12.5% is for legals. For illegals it’s down to 2%.

Funny thing is....that the rest of us won’t be in a position to bail their ass out. We don’t have the money....they can go kiss the PRC’s ass and read their damned Mao book for all I care...screw them and the horse they worked, starved and taxed to death. Good riddance!

My three tests for the US House:

1) Will you defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, an organization which is your sworn enemy?
2) Will you maintain the current debt ceiling?
3) Will you refuse to bailout any states?

Failure on any of these three issues will convince me that the US House is not serious about cutting spending. Mind you, I want them to do a lot more than just these three things, but these I consider absolute no-brainer items. If they can't do these things, then they can't do anything.

Central Valley shouldn’t be a surprise, they’re not releasing water for the farms.

I recall reading they’re only going to get about 45% of what they need.

Are they counting the part-timers as “employed” now? I seem to remember that unless one was working a certain number of hours per week, they didn’t count.

When I was in high school it was commonly taught that 10% unemployment constitutes the definition of a Depression.

So why is this not being reported every day as such?

Right as Moonbeam returned as Governor...what are the odds that the decrease in unemployment in Sacramento County has to do with an increase in union whores and lobbyists?

Could you imagine if Bush or Palin were President and unemployment was 10%. They would be burned at the stake and cruxcied daily. It would be 24x7 hate - full on.

Today it is just all happy talk in the media and TV. I dumped TV in 2009 cause I saw it coming.

Total brainwashing, spin, lies, happy talk for Obama, Palin is satan, Oprah is wonderful, Obama is wonderful, things are getting better, Moochelle new dres, celeb gossip, here comes the Super Bowl, and on and on.

Fox is not really any better.

strange... My daughters boyfriend, hopefully her husband at some point, works 3 jobs.. part time at one graphic arts company, part time at another one, and he delivers pizzas.. he makes more money delivery pizza on the weekends, than he does at his 2 other jobs...

my point is, he does what he has to do...

I know many others who are holding out for that 100k job. They had the cool job, and now won’t work for 50k..... In my loose circle of friends, I know 7 to 10 such people..

“They’re going to ask US to bail them out.”

Don’t worry. California will be able to pay back the other states after all the green jobs and high speed rail jobs kick in. /s

He controls the media, TV and if they get out of line then it is ruin, investigations, lawsuits, mobs showing up or maybe someone ends up in a dumpster like that guy.

We are so like Venezuela and Zimbabwe now it is not funny but hey the Super Bowl is soon.
