WASHINGTON Cabinet secretaries, top congressional leaders and an exclusive group of senior U.S. officials are exempt from toughened new airport screening procedures when they fly commercially with government-sanctioned security details.
New heightened security procedures by the Transportation Security Administration, which require either a scan by a full-body detector or an intimate personal pat-down, have spurred passenger outrage in the lead-up to the Thanksgiving holiday airport crush.
The senior government officials can opt out of such measures if they fly accompanied by government security guards approved by the TSA. The agency would not explain why it makes these exceptions, but many of the exempted government officials have gone through several levels of security clearances, including FBI background checks.

I’m about type something I never thought I would....
I think Obama, Napolitano and the gubmint knows something we don’t. They must have some intelligence (in the CIA sort of way not common sense) of an imminent attempted attack.
They can’t be this stupid and out of touch.
Then again, maybe they are. I dunno. Just reading between the lines, that’s my feeling.
That should read...to type.
Welcome to FR.
“I fly quite often and I’m still somewhat perplexed by the issue.. it just doesn’t seem like a big deal to me”
They’re COUNTING on people with an attitude like yours to further restrict our freedoms. If the molestation of children and adults alike, or performing backscatter X-Ray EXPERIMENTS on American Citizens is no “big deal” to you, what WOULD be a “big deal”, praytell???
The last I flew was six weeks ago to San Diego and I’m scheduled to fly in two weeks. I have a big project starting the first of the year which will cause me flying at least two weeks a month.
I got an artificial hip last year and I purposely have been avoiding flying even before this increased screening as I thought it was a PITA anyway. I don’t know how I’m going to handle this new procedure.
Maybe you will see me in the news!
We need to make them own this right on up until election day for 2012. what they're doing is this century's equivalent of loading a group of people up in a rail car or a camp yard and stripping and sorting them. It's just done with technology and bullying, but the effect is the same.
The public needs to be scathingly seething when they walk into that voting booth.
I think that the TSA employees know there is a spotlight on them. I would tell them in advance that there is metal in your body though. Matter of fact, it might be an idea to look at their website and see if there is someone to ask before you walk through their scanners.
If you wanted to be really careful, I would see if a friend or relative would record your walk through. Might be useful later. :)
We are truly living in George Orwell’s 1984, where some are more equal than others.
Millions of citizens cannot carry a gun for basic self-defense.....our “leaders” get 24/7 armed protection.
We must submit to obamacare.....our “leaders” get their own healthcare system.
We must submit to groping to get onto a plane.....our “leaders” bypass this.
How long before people rise up to this “Master and Slave” system and say no more?
MSNBC says anyone opposed to the pat-downs and strip searches is a racist. (video)
Opposition to strip-searching 10 year olds is a vast conspiracy.
4th , 9th, and 10th amendments.
They should screen BHO. They’d find his koran.
Many, huh? Well, "many" non-government officials and non officials have too, but they won't be allowed to opt out.
"Many" is like Brian Williams tacking "but come say" as a lead in to the currently approved government talking points of the day. It's another weasle word to give the impression of a majority without there actually being a majority.
Kinda like “VENI VIDI VICI” but more hip and today. I like it.

Profiling!!!
Call me cynical but I see the whole enchilada as being about profiteers and profiting, which is normally fine, except it is being done on the backs of our FREEDOMS, our taxes and enabled through corruption and cronyism of politicians.
Follow the money as they say.
If those with political connections and privilege had to go through this bs there would be a rebellion by the same power brokers and it would bring down the charade. Instead they waltz past with immunity (or is it impunity) as we the sheeple minions are subjected to the same degradations as beef going to the stockyards. They also bypass security by flying on private Learjets that could just as easily be used as a terrorist weapon.
Nothing works more effectively than a good groping and strip search via irradiation by a uniformed agent to put you in your place in society, at the bottom of the barrel.
You can’t expect the Politburo to have to be screened! There here to save us from our selves.

Kidnapping & Rape:
I haven't read through the thread but there are a lot of conspiracy theories out there about the purpose of all this. Like, “once they get people in a plane they can transport them where ever they want”, etc.
And, of course, the talk of expanding this to other types of transportation, buses, ships, etc. Are they pushing for the big CRISIS?
