Tea Party Activists Tell Republicans to Avoid Abortion
Washington, DC -- The fiscally conservative tea party activists were crucial to electing pro-life candidates in the 2010 mid-term elections, but now they are calling on Republicans in Congress to avoid social issues like abortion.

Actually, I think it all started last night on this thread:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2627138/posts
Then Jim posted his new thread.
Yeah, I see that now. Ol’ counterpunch got in early there, with almost (if not completely) identical to a post he had here.
I missed out on yesterday, between the new puppy and football, I had my hands full...
So THIS thread is where all the action is! That other thread could use some, I just posted this comment:
This is the gorilla in the room.
Leftists, which include all liberals, Democrats and Paultard/liberaltarians, have at the core of their being, attachment to sexual libertinism. They will compromise occasionally on this or that, but they will never compromise on sexual libertinism. It is their core value and principle. They will never admit it; they will dress up this evil in the name of freedom, right to choose, liberty, rights and so on.
But what it is, when you strip off the wrapping paper, is addiction to sexual immorality the worst of vices, whether they practice them themselves or not. It is their God.
It is the core of feminism, homosexualism, indoctrination in schools, stripping the natural family and fathers of any rights or protections, AFDC and welfare, in fact all welfare programs, their love for legalized porn (see the threads about the Pedophilia For Dummies book on Amazon and how many freaking idiots on FR support that!), and so on. Michelle 0bastards visit (planned anyway, I didnt see if she acutally followed through with it) to Mumbais sex workers, and so on.
Their focus on money money money is because they dont want their golden calf touched.

To paraphrase Wille Shakespeare...
Cry 'Troll'.. and let slip the Kitties of Zot!
Is anyone keeping track of the zots on this and the other thread? (Which could use some action, the paultard/leftists have the field to themselves and just a couple of us right now.)
Link to other thread in case anyone wants to jump in:

Avoid Social Issues, GOP Urged (Homosexualists, Pro-Aborts Co-opt Tea Party Movement)

You are so screwed!
Laws also stop people who are borderline, not sure of right and wrong, are afraid of penalties, etc.
If something is legal but morally wrong, people will use the excuse - hey, it’s legal!
Obviously not everything immoral should be wrong. Or we’d all be in trouble - gluttony and envy are immoral but certainly should not be illegal!
I gotta say, this whole “it’s gonna happen so why try to stop it?” reaction to abortion is...stunning to me.
I’m an atheist, so I don’t come from this from a religious point of view, so that’s not it. It’s all about the right to LIFE.
If we can’t say it’s wrong to kill UNBORN BABIES, then we might as well just forget any concept of “conservative” thought.
I don’t know, I am sorry to be ranting, but...I just don’t get it. This attitude is truly bizarre to me—the thinking seems to be, “Wellll, we couldn’t stop booze, so we can’t stop drugs, and should make those legal, and we can’t stop abortions so we should make THOSE legal...”
While we’re at it, by the same “logic” posted elsewhere on this, look at all the murders that take place by people who KNOW there are penalties for it.
Why make laws? SOMEONE is going to break ALL of them.
Ranting, ranting, sorry...but I just think if we can’t argue against killing babies, we might as well just forget the whole deal, because we won’t have a society that deserves preservation.
Ditto when it comes to infant kids, so we shouldn't be getting government involved in the killing by parents of their kids.
Good God, the utter insanity of some "libertarian" thinking. And libertarians think they're the "intellectuals" of the right....
Ahhhhhzzzzzzzzhhhhoe.
Good riddance.
Good God, the utter insanity of some "libertarian" thinking. And libertarians think they're the "intellectuals" of the right....
Exactly. If someone is bound and determined to murder someone else and keeps quiet about it, there is very little that can be done to stop them. If we were to follow libertarian thinking on this it would mean that we do away with laws against murder.
The libertarian solution to EVERYTHING seems to be legalize it and label anyone who believes in the rule of law a "nannystater."
Grrr, missed the lightning storm.
I hate when that happens!!
GREAT point.
The libertarian pose is just that, so phony and pretentious, like the only mature response to all issues is to say "Hey, it HAPPENS! Helloooo! Stop being so silly and accept reality!" As if the only choices are to be in support of a completely invasive totalitarian state or a free-for-all.
Conservative thought doesn't say there should be NO government, but limited government.
The thinking behind some of the posts on this thread has me wondering what flippin' planet I live on. It sure isn't this reality where we all nod, and say, oh, of course it's so sad that this happens, but we can't do anything about it, so let's just grow up and admit it...
It wasn't social conservatives who gave America the most pro-death president in our history, it was all of the people who decided to ignore abortion because they didn't think it was important (and that includes McCain).
Not in your lifetime. Not in God’s lifetime.
Some people at FR, and in the population in general, continue to confuse the Conservative movement and the GOP with the Libertarian Movement and/or Party. They are not one in the same: The GOP platform itself is Pro-Life, and calls for appropriate action on the issues as a Party.
Though Libertarians are part of the greater coalition on the Right in many cases, it is important to remember that neither FR, nor the greater Conservative movement, nor the actual GOP platform is Libertarian on Abortion (other social issues vary by issue).
Conservative, not Libertarian. Social issues are a part of the three-legged Conservative stool, and of of equal important to the other legs (Defense, Fiscal Conservatism). None shall be tossed in favor of the others, none.
Poor logic on your part.
It’s a LOT easier to prevent a mother from killing her born infant, than preventing her from somehow ending a pregnancy. That’s why very country I know of prevents parents from abusing or killing their (born) kids.
Again, I’m all for leaving the pro-life plank in the GOP platform, but to really change the USA into a pro-life country will take a change of heart, of opinion, not just 5/4s of the Supreme Court. I support making abortion illegal—just that should not be the highest priority of all, as a fascist government is far more dangerous to all of us. Don’t forget, in Romania abortion was illegal—and it was under a nightmare dictatorship too. Get rid of dictatorial government first, then we can work on ridding America of abortionists.
