ALERT: S-510 Food Takeover Act, S-787 Water Takeover, LameDuck Congress May Vote Immed Call Senators
Gulag Bound ^ | November 15, 2010 | Henry Lamb

Posted on 11/15/2010 8:34:28 AM PST by unspun

Congress will convene November 15 to try to force into law all the things they didn't get done during the regular session. No one knows for sure just which bills will be on Nancy and Harry's agenda. It's Harry's agenda that is most important because the Senate - with 60 votes required to stop debate - offers the best opportunity to stop a bill.

S-510 - Food Safety Modernization Act - is one of the bills that must be stopped. Doreen Hannes has been following this bill for several organizations during its entire existence. Here's some of her reasons why the bill must be stopped. Doreen says:

"In a nutshell, S510 is effectively NAIS (National Animal Identification System) for everything. It is a tremendous amount of additional enforcement (fines and penalties, license revocations, further license requirements, control over processes and harvest) which are definite issues with the bill as it currently exists. However, not unlike the "Health Care" bill, they will have to pass this to see what it actually does.

"Here's why....In S 510, the FDA is instructed to follow all international agreements. One of the issues with international 'guidelines and standards' is "Good Agricultural Practices". Well those are not necessarily good. Most GAP certifying bodies have checklists about 25 pages long for growers to follow. They all require traceability (i.e., NAIS) they also require auditing, verifying and certifying the processes used to produce a consumable product for human or animal feed. Every step in GAP costs the grower of food money and a good deal of paperwork. What happens if you're better at growing food than filing forms? You will be penalized (i.e., more money). Sec 420 is exceptionally dangerous in my eyes. It subjects all farms that 'produce' milk to risk assessment and management (i.e., insurance).

"The idea that exemptions will be helpful is rose-colored-glasses thinking. Exemptions can easily be taken away or modified without Congressional oversight through the regulatory process. Most farmers aren't watching the Federal Register like hawks.

"The FDA has plenty of authority to protect the anonymous food supply already. But they don't. Instead, they put small entities out of business through Hazard Analasis & Critical Control Points (HACCP), also to be expanded in this bill, and heavier regulations that are not helpful to smaller economies of scale. The FDA inspects less than 1% of imported produce, has performed inspections on less than 25% of processing failties that they are authorized to inspect (in a five year period) and they ALREADY have authority over live food animals on the farm. The USDA authority is over animal disease."

S-787 - Clean Water Restoration Act - will give the federal government jurisdiction over all water, everywhere, as well as jurisdiction over all activity that affects water wherever it may be. This would give to the federal government effective control over every square inch of land in the United States. It too, must be stopped. (see video 3:30)

Please register your concerns to your senators early in the week. You can reach your Senators through the switchboard at this number:

I’m starting to think that the way to go is to let them pass it — then see if they can enforce it.

That's the same stupid argument that allowed the McCain/Feingold trampling of our 1st Amendment to be passed. It's unconstitutional, but it stands until we can mount a successful litigation effort to overturn it. It is preferable to stop bad law before it is passed. The time and money required to overturn it is astronomical and success is uncertain.

I understand, and certainly, as a practical point, it is wise to contact our senators and demand that they shut this down.

However, I was somewhat facetiously making a philosophical point that government has only the power that we relinquish to it. It certainly has no authority to demand premise registration or individual animal identification. Legislators and bureaucrats consistently overstep constitutional constrains by interfering with private property and commerce.

There are already egregiously invasive regulations of private property in place, and we ought not be expected to obey an unconstitutional statute just because it is passed by some legislative body or published by some unelected government flunky.

Thank you for that information. The last conversation I had with our vet in Ohio said that the USDA regs were to take effect in January of 2010. I’m glad to know that this was old info, for her practice included MANY amish farmers and they were very much up in arms over this.

I so agree with the egregious encroachment bit by bit.
Once they do a thing it has become almost impossible to stop them..

The over 2000 page health care bill for example ... did we want it NO! Did it stop them? NO! Do they care ? NO!

We must be more than facetiously making Philosophical points.

Sorry, I am not meaning to be argumentative. The current last few years, and the advances of Islam and the direction the nation has taken, frankly scares me, for the future of children and grandchildren.. Have you read the history of Russia after their revolution to depose the Czars?

Regarding when Lenin took power.... how Russia life was governed, and later the starving of the people of the Ukraine by Stalin, etc.?

There were unbelievably cruel and dehumanizing things imposed on the masses..
Did the people want it ? NO!

That is the point ... if we allow, which we have already, them to seize the power they (people that do not believe in America and the American way) enslave people, oppress, and starve them at their will while living like Kings.

Venezuela, Zimbabwe, China, North Korea the Islamic middle east, etc. are there for all to consider. It is difficult to take what is occurring lightly.

Call senators, call talk shows, and/or write a letter to the editor. We need to inform as many people as possible.

“I’ve just e-mailed telling All Frankin to NOT vote for anything that increases this nation debt or hinders small business...”

When I email, or call, my politicians, I sometimes write a letter to the editor, and copy and paste my email in that letter, or explain my phone call, and it gets published. I want to expose them to their constituents, at least the liberal politicians.

(NaturalNews) Senate Bill 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act, has been called "the most dangerous bill in the history of the United States of America." It would grant the U.S. government new authority over the public's right to grow, trade and transport any foods. This would give Big brother the power to regulate the tomato plants in your backyard. It would grant them the power to arrest and imprison people selling cucumbers at farmer's markets. It would criminalize the transporting of organic produce if you don't comply with the authoritarian rules of the federal government.

"It will become the most offensive authority against the cultivation, trade and consumption of food and agricultural products of one's choice. It will be unconstitutional and contrary to natural law or, if you like, the will of God." - Dr. Shiv Chopra, Canada Health whistleblower (http://shivchopra.com/?page_id=2)

This tyrannical law puts all food production (yes, even food produced in your own garden) under the authority of the Department of Homeland Security. Yep -- the very same people running the TSA and its naked body scanner / passenger groping programs.

This law would also give the U.S. government the power to arrest any backyard food producer as a felon (a "smuggler") for merely growing lettuce and selling it at a local farmer's market.

It also sells out U.S. sovereignty over our own food supply by ceding to the authority of both the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Codex Alimentarius.

It would criminalize seed saving (http://foodfreedom.wordpress.com/20...), turning backyard gardeners who save heirloom seeds into common criminals. This is obviously designed to give corporations like Monsanto a monopoly over seeds.

It would create an unreasonable paperwork burden that would put small food producers out of business, resulting in more power over the food supply shifting to large multinational corporations.

I encourage you to read more about this dangerous bill at the Food Freedom blog on Wordpress: http://foodfreedom.wordpress.com/20...

Watch this excellent video on NaturalNews.TV which explains S.510 in more detail:

Take action now or lose your right to grow your own food

Sign this petition at Citizens for Health:

Do it today! This is really important.

In addition, the Cornucopia Institute recently sent out an urgent call-to-action email containing the following information: (http://www.cornucopia.org/2010/11/a...)

How to protest Senate Bill 510

1) Go to Congress.org and type in your zip code in the box in the upper right hand corner.

2) Click on your Senator's name, and then on the contact tab for their phone number. You can also call the Capitol Switchboard and ask to be directly connected to your Senator's office: 202-224-3121.

3) Once connected ask to speak to the legislative staff person responsible for agriculture. If they are unavailable leave a voice mail message. Be sure to include your name and phone number.

Give them this message in support of the "Tester Amendment" which would exempt small farms from S.510:

"I am a constituent of Senator___________. I ask that he/she support the Tester Amendment to the food safety bill. The Tester Amendment will exempt the safest, small, owner-operator farms and food facilities and farmers who direct market their products to consumers, stores or restaurants. Food safety legislation should not create inappropriate and costly regulatory barriers to family farms and the growing healthy food movement in the drive to crack down on corporate bad actors. Please support the Tester Amendment and market opportunities for small and mid-sized family farms, and small food processing facilities."

You may also wish to explain that you oppose the Food Safety Modernization Act in its entirety, and it is a destructive, freedom-crushing law that will destroy the future of food in America.

Remember, America has already lost control over its money supply to the Federal Reserve (nearly a hundred years ago). America has lost its health due to the medical industry and its profit-from-sickness agenda. Now we may lose our right to grow our own food and save our own seeds if Senate Bill 510 passes.

This is a dangerous, tyrannical law that would thrust the American people into an age of darkness and malnutrition. It would criminalize many of the very people growing our food and turn food production into yet another corporate monopoly.

Please take the time right now to contact your U.S. Senator and voice your strong opposition to this bill.
