NPR has terminated its contract with Juan Williams, one of its senior news analysts, after he made comments about Muslims on the Fox News Channel. NPR said in a statement that it gave Mr. Williams notice of his termination on Wednesday night. The move came after Mr. Williams, who is also a Fox News political analyst, appeared on the The OReilly Factor on Monday. On the show, the host, Bill OReilly, asked him to respond to the notion that the United States was facing a Muslim dilemma. Mr. OReilly said, The cold truth is that in the world today jihad, aided and abetted by some Muslim nations, is the biggest threat on the planet.
Mr. Williams said he concurred with Mr. OReilly.
He continued: I mean, look, Bill, Im not a bigot. You know the kind of books Ive written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.
Mr. Williams also made reference to the Pakistani immigrant who pleaded guilty this month to trying to plant a car bomb in Times Square. He said the war with Muslims, Americas war is just beginning, first drop of blood. I dont think theres any way to get away from these facts, Mr. Williams said.
NPR said in its statement that the remarks were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR.
The public radio organization said it thanked him for many years of service. Mr. Williams did not immediately respond on Wednesday night to an e-mail seeking comment...

“...Center-left Williams (he seemed to support Obama, but once in a while supports Republican ideas) gets fired from NPR for straying from the PC party line...”
Kinda funny when they eat their own, ain’t it...
So it follows that the regular NPR people showing up on Fox have their days numbered. It just has to be done gradually so as to not get the attention of the lib sheep.
What's the term for 'bought' journalists? ... or bought women... it's the same, right?
It comes down to his being fired for admitting to an involuntary emotional response- fear.
Just WOW.
The Left is despicable. And hypocrites beyond measure.
Muslims are now supposed to be such a protected class that we are not even allowed to think and feel where they are concerned.
Is there a single traveler who takes off their shoes at the airport who doesn’t immediately think of the reason for doing so- Muslims.
A mere days after $oro$ took over the network, interesting. Welcome to the New World Order Juan.
Pray for America
Juan is not their socialist puppet. They hate that.
Too bad, I liked Juan. He seemed to be a decent person.
Agree with you 100%
This is what I find offensive about the Soros component: Over the decades, American taxpayers have spend hundreds of millions of dollars founding, setting up, housing (that huge building on Mass Ave), equipping, staffing and otherwise paying for NPR, but along comes George Soros who takes it over and WE DON’T GET OUR MONEY BACK.
LOL. Being a liberal (or living under the thumbs of liberals) is like living the life of a liar. It is so hard to keep track of the lies you have already told that eventually you get whacked by your own lies.
In the same vein, liberals keep changing the rules as they go along, and even "The Faithful" like Juan Williams will eventually step on their own crank, because you just can't keep track of what is okay to say or think and what is not.
LOL...getting canned from NPR, that's too funny. As another poster said...he must be doing something right!
So does this qualify as Juan being mugged by political correctness?
Will he be leaning more to the right, soon?
Hmmm. Juan Williams got the Bill Cosby treatment.
I believe it's 'presstitutes'.
I have always thought he is a principled guy, although I often disagreed with him. I think he will continue to call them like he sees them.
Juan to appear on BOR tonight.
Must see TV!
In France [Pris], the military with automatic weapons, as well as "fit and ready", move about the tourists eyes always sweeping, and when coming upon a picnic table of Muslim young men between the ages of approximate 20-30's, they circle the table, always moving, then walk on. The young Muslim men relaxing never batted an eye and kept in conversation.
We need more military exposure in the United States so that the next terrorist-idiot attempt by the likes of another such Muslim, Faisal Shahzad, will not be have to be discovered by a vet street vendor in NYC who noticed the smoke, if he had not been an idiot-we know what would of happened that day in the "theater district".
Americans need to get used to it. Williams is being vigilant as we have been taught to do. Williams said vigilant Americans who fly commercial do as well.
Note, Whoopie did not know how many terrorists on 9/11-she noted 10, Greta quickly corrected her-response body language said -whatever. Then she emphasized Tim McVeigh, she emphasized Mohammed Ali. Greta handled her with kid gloves, as she could have run down a list of Muslim attacks on this country and those of our allies, [Whoopie on the show to promote her books]. The German and Brit recently "taken out" in Pakistan had both become Muslims through conversion to Islam.
Now, if all peaceful Muslims would turn against these radical imams [Look Who's Coming to Dinner at the Pentagon] and extremists in their midst, turn in their sons and daughters (a few have)who they know are strongly suspect are being indoctrinated, in a greater number; so that we actually saw an effort to stop terrorism then perhaps we would hold some sympathy- for who better has the inside information and suspicions of activities suggesting planned terrorist acts, but other Muslims.
Perhaps NPR, was irritated by Williams "life on Fox News".
Meg is going to give the legal background as why Juan has grounds to sue....Can’t wait for discovery!
Ahhh yes, that’s it. Thanks.
Where is Je$$e Jackson, Sharpton, the NAACP, ... ???
I’ll watch it- haven’t watched BOR in months- but I’m so furious about this it’s worth watching ...hope BOR isn’t in one of his moods.
