SANTA ANA More than 200,000 revelers are expected to descend on Santa Ana this weekend for Fiestas Patrias activities marking the 100th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution and the 200th anniversary of Mexico's independence from Spain.
Organizers say this year's celebration has been kicked up a notch in honor of the milestones. A 15-day film festival, for example, was added, and the Disneyland Resort is a new sponsor.
On Sunday afternoon, a parade lead by Mayor Miguel Pulido and Mexican Consul Alejandra García Williams will travel south on Main Street. Mickey and Minnie Mouse are also slated to appear as honorary children's grand marshals.
Lastly, a grito will take place Sunday night at Fourth and Ross streets. The traditional ceremony replicates the cry for freedom issued by a Catholic priest that inspired listeners to revolt against the Spanish in 1810. City leaders say no public funds are being used for the week's events.

That’s a highly intolerant attitude towards Spain...
Also serves to re-establish the claims for America’s Southwest via “Reconquista”.
Will Disney celebrate Spain’s freedom from the Islamic empire?
Viva Miguel Raton!
Well, why not?
Mexico became independent from Spain 189 years ago, not 200.
Utah State Fair is doing the same. Wrapping up their 10 day run with a huge fiesta. No big headliner. Just the fiesta.
My thought also—why not celebrate the freedom of Christians from the evil muslim hordes.........this diversity cr*p is nothing but social Marxism and Disney needs to quit promoting such corrupt governments and glorifying such evil countries when they kill and treat the “masses” like dirt where they have to flee by the millions just for basic survival. Wake up, Disney, and quit glorifying evil!
Micky Mouse huh....what better mascot could there possibly be?
Good for Mickey Louse.
Disney probably secretly sanctioned that Hamas Micky Mouse that promoted terror to children in Palestine.
You could make the same argument that the US became independent from Britain in 1783 and not 1776.
Should be Cri-Cri and El Raton Vaquero — and their amigos. That said, do you remember any Mexican cities holding big celebrations of OUR bicentennial celebrations?
I call foul!
Two gringo mice at the celebration, but no mention of Speedy Gonzoles?
This is an outrage and must not stand!
I don't think this is any kind of pro-amnesty move by Disney, as this is in line with practices that were in place when Walt was alive.
In fact, weren't those the Gay Caballeros?
No disrespect....What the hell’s a grito???....dirt sandwich?
