The federal government is shutting down the dredging that was being done to create protective sand berms in the Gulf of Mexico.
The berms are meant to protect the Louisiana coastline from oil. But the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department has concerns about where the dredging is being done.
Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, who was one of the most vocal advocates of the dredging plan, has sent a letter to President Barack Obama, pleading for the work to continue.

Obama wants this to be an uncontrolled disaster.
Our tax dollars at work. Worry about the effects of the sand dredging and not about the oil, which will kill everything it touches......
“Pleading” is not going to work with these criminals.
It already is..............
That is the only conclusion. He is purposely NOT doing anything that can help slow the flow of oil or protect the shoreline. He is actively fighting against every single protection of the gulf coast.
(of course if we listen to some in the media and a few on this board, this factor is not going to effect opinion of the Democratic party, but the Republicans are doomed for eternity due to 10 seconds of speech by Joe Barton).
Politically, and I guess practically stupid. So why?
Faced with an incoming missile from N Korea and the ability to shoot it down, the dimwits in this administration would probably, in a decision akin to the rationale used to stop dredging, urge the military to take no action because it would interfer with a potential nuclear reaction...a normal event on the sun and therefore not to be triffled with. That is of course unless the missile were aimed at their location at which time it would be all hands on deck.
Continue the work, use the Louisiana National Guard if necessary.
The entire kenyan administration is an uncontrolled disaster, every freaking day.
He wants the power and whatever it takes to get it.
Pray for America
Out of control beauocrats. The wildeyed lib beaurocrats see nobama as a freehand to do anything they always wanted to do and care less if any has a grain of common-sense.
Dredging is done all the time along the coasts...
0bama is really out to screw the people of LA, isn’t he? Not a day goes by in which this nefarious, fetid regime does something new to damage this country.
Elect a third world president, get a third world government. Did anyone really expect a different result?
How can he get his way (amnesty for votes, $$$ via fairy tale green energy) if these problems are actually attacked with common sense and fixed?
I had no idea she'd gone to work at Interior, but there you have it!
1) Feb 2010 - BP was fighting large cracks at the base of the Deepwater Horizon well for roughly ten days in early February. BP notifies the feds that things arent going well.
2) March BP cuts costs and cuts corners on safety as they carry on their work
3) March An engineer complains of practices on the rig, claiming that it almost blew up.
4) Obama announces that off-shore drilling will get a green light
5) Goldman Sachs sold 4,680,822 shares of BP in the first quarter of 2010
6) The CEO of BP starts dumping BP stock
7) April - The well explodes, killing 11 and beginning the spill
8) The federal government issues a moratorium on off-shore oil drilling.
9) The federal government is slow to act in dealing with the spill
10) The federal government will not ask foreign nations for help
11) The federal government will not use skimmers on hand to gather oil
12) Louisiana asks for permission to build sand berms to protect the LA coast.
13) The federal government dithers endlessly and declines to grant permission anyway.
14) Louisiana goes ahead and begins construction of sand berms.
15) The federal government orders that the construction of sand berms be discontinued.
It looks to me like this was meant to happen and meant to result in a massive environmental problem. I say the whole thing is more deliberate than accidental.
