Polish president dies in air crash
A plane carrying Lech Kaczynski, the Polish president, has crashed near Smolensk airport in western Russia, killing all on board, Russian officials have reported.
Polish officials confirmed on Saturday that Kaczynski was on board the flight with his wife, as well as Slawomir Skrzypek, the president of Poland's central bank, Andrzej Kremer, the deputy foreign minister and the army chief of staff.
The crash occurred about 1.5km from Smolensk airport in foggy conditions.
Putin is in charge of the ‘investigation’ now, NSTB will NEVER be invited to help.
Think “COVERUP”.
oh no ... prayer heavenward for her.
President Bush has probably already communicated with the family, and I would guess, based on prior behavior, will make a trip to Poland if at all possible, for the funeral. And there will be no fanfare because he knows it's never about him.
I think as a former President, O cannot stop him (though he certainly will try).
Just waking up and heard the news. I am devastated, just catching up now on details.
Sounds fishy to me as well, but we’ll never know the answer.
We will add Mrs. Kaczynska, the President's mother, to our tearful prayers.
**I think as a former President, O cannot stop him (though he certainly will try)**
Ah, but didn’t ‘O’ demand that President Bush leave the army base in Texas after the terrorist attack...?
My condolences.
Ditto.
Horrible, absolutely horrible. I’m sickened, and no way was this an “accident.”
And I’m embarrassed for us that we have such a joke of a loser in the WH who’s so robotic he won’t even be able to pretend to care (if he ever surfaces to give fake condolences).
I do know that President and Mrs. Bush secretly visited the wounded at Ft. Hood while Obama ignored them.
I still think it would be too obvious a snub to try to prevent a former President who was a friend from going to a funeral.
Though, as a man completely devoid of decency, morality or any sense of protocol, I'm sure he would try.
I haven’t heard a response from Zero yet. I am trying to catch up on this.
This is a terrible tragedy. God bless Poland.

May God guard and safekeep Poland. Prayers for all there.
You’re right. But I DO bet he’ll send a ‘sternly worded’ letter to what remains of the Polish government, ‘urging them to do what’s best for the Polish people” and “allow the Russian government to come in and assist in all ways necessary to prevent other countries from taking advantage of Poland’s grief”. Martial law will ensue, and then? :*(
This is all hypothetical. HolyO may actually send an ipod with all of his speeches on it to the Polish people to be used during all the upcoming funerals...or maybe DVDs from twenty year old movies that won’t play in their players there. He’s mighty big about gift giving that way, you know. /sarc
“And now Putin is in charge of the ‘investigation’??? Mr. Former KGB?!? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot alert!!!!”
I think Poland can handle this!! Don’t call us, we’ll call you mr. kgb.
But he's not, so he probably either doesn't know about it yet, has been told and will think about it later, or is having someone write a statement for him that he will eventually deliver after being coached by someone to pretend he gives a rip.
Oh no... What a tremendous friend Poland has been, and what a loss for the wonderful Poles. RIP.
Evil, unspeakable evil, rose in our midst, and we as a people were too weak, too indecisive, too pusillanimous to deal with it.

As a Russian, I offer my deepest condolences to the Polish nation and to the families of those who died. It is very sad that Russia became a part of this tragedy.
