It's been said that the military is always preparing for war. That is true. We prepare for combat every day. We ran 5 miles today to the rifle range and shot nearly 200 rounds a piece at targets and then ran back. However, we also pray for peace. I would love one day to be completely unnecessary. But alas, I am a realist, and I know that day will never come.
The headlines of the last week have reminded me more of glimpsing at the S2 Daily Briefing Sheets while in theater or the Al-Jazeera than the NY Times or the Washington Post. Think about that for a moment, let it sink in.
Before I get into the main premise of this article - I need to make two statements here.
First and foremost , when it comes to the back and forth of who did what to whom and why - I don't give a @!$%#. It doesn't change the action. In life we're judged by our actions, nothing more, nothing less. One of the greatest things of the military is when it comes to an enemy, the politics behind the situation - don't matter in accomplishing that mission. For the military , life is simple in that regard.
Secondly, Regardless of your political ideology, you've earned the right as US Citizens to say your piece - no matter how wrong it may be. That is your right, and I will give my life to protect it.

This supposed “marine” is totally clueless if he doesn’t know that his “CiC” is a foreign usurper of the Constitution.
If we fail to halt the collectivist train we're on, future generations of Americans will see this come to pass, likely our grandchildren.
I agree that it won't happen today. But the speed of "change" will continue to amaze you.
0bama has already stated he wants a "National Security Force" that "just as powerful [as our military]"--what do you think he wants to do with that power, folks? Help granny cross the street?
why am i doubting this article.
can some current or recently retired marines confirm whether or not you would be using live rounds in training (i seem to remember something from the 90s when they stopped using live rounds)
as for calming down... bite me. i’m an American and last i checked, rolling over so commies can perform a bloodless coup is just out of the question.
Yea he’s only one speaking for all. I’m not 1 tour wonder, I spent 23 years in the military, there will probably be some dimwits that would fire on the public, most won’t. We are bound to protect the “constitution” not the representatives. So you can be sure we will be there to make sure the constitution will be upheld.
And I swore to defend and support and if necessary give my life for that Constitution and utilize every tool, technique, and weapon at my disposal to do so. And trust me, Im not alone.
Well. Mr.Marine and friends- get to defending and supporting!
The Constitution is UNDER ATTACK RIGHT NOW, by the sitting President. Now what are you prepared to do?
Don’t lecture those of us who would against defending it-making us the ‘enemy’.Blind obedience has put many a soldier on the wrong side of things-better to die on ones feet rather than live on your knees.
Ask me to kneel and you join my enemies.
It’s possible that this guy is real, but gets all of his information from the MSM. There are a lot of people who just accept the crap that CNN and MSNBC spew, uncritically.
They’re pie-eyed innocents who can’t wrap their minds around the notion that ‘The Most Trusted Name in News’ would ever slant a story to achieve partisan political mileage.
I’ve met lots and lots of them. Not when I was in the Corps, but they do occur once in a while.
Yes they use live rounds
“....You may have noticed that at the Capitol rally the Capitol police had assault weapons on open display.....”
I am amazed there wasn't more outrage about that!
If I was Boehner I would make sure I had plans to bureaucratically get the Capital Police commander's scalp when I got speakership. Particularly if he did not put a MFR into his file protesting the order as being blatantly and unnecessarily provocative.
wintertime, I’m with you all the way. And there are millions more with us. God Bless you.
More than that - service members are legally REQUIRED TO REFUSE to carry out unlawful orders.
The display was intended to show who was boss.
Hope so - I feel like I’m abandoning the US going to Oz ... but then ....
Hey, “worst-case scenario”
You sound like a...Lefty Troll!
“More than that - service members are legally REQUIRED TO REFUSE to carry out unlawful orders.”
As it stands, is it always “unlawful” to fire on American citizens?
The military is sworn to protect the Constitution. If they do that, then the whole mess could be over quickly.
If you haven't, read Mila 18.
One other point that I haven't seen mentioned yet is that if a civil war really did take off, you can bet every dime in your 401k that someone, the Russians, the Chinese, Hezbollah, would take advantage of that fact and add to the confusion and chaos just to do us harm. The military wouldn't just be fighting a bunch of flabby civilian Rambo wannabes with Ruger 10-22 rifles. They could conceivably end up fighting a war on two fronts - against an invading enemy, and against insurgents at home.
We are not calling for violent revolution, at least not now. But if all the tyrannical legislation survives a constitutional challenge, and it cannot be reversed through the political process, we will have a tyranny. I know whose side this guy will be on. He will be just like the SS guards that were just following orders to round up the Jews in the concentration camps. There will always be enough snakes in the military to support a dictator.
Let’s all get along and have “peace in our time”. Right. And this pile has the right to call himself a Marine. America means nothing unless it stands for liberty. It will only be a place with a storied past. That’s nothing to be proud of.
“The military is sworn to protect the Constitution. If they do that, then the whole mess could be over quickly.”
If they use that criteria, it certainly would make choosing sides very easy for them.
