Congress health care vote: a dark day for freedom in America
The London Telegraph ^ | March 22, 2010 | Nile Gardiner

The passage last night of Barack Obama’s health care reform bill through the House of Representatives is yet another blow to freedom in America inflicted by the Obama administration. The legislation, which comes at a staggering cost of $940 billion, will hugely add to the already towering national debt, now at over $12 trillion. It is yet another millstone round the necks of the American people, already faced with the highest levels of unemployment in a generation.

It is also a great leap forward by the United States towards a European-style vision of universal health care, which will only lead to soaring costs, higher taxes, and a surge in red tape for small businesses. This reckless legislation dramatically expands the power of the state over the lives of individuals, and could not be further from the vision of America’s founding fathers. It has also been rushed through Congress without proper scrutiny, in the face of overwhelming public opposition, and with not an ounce of bipartisan support.

Above all the health care bill is a thinly disguised vanity project for a president who is committed to transforming the United States from the world’s most successful large-scale free enterprise economy, to a highly interventionist society with a massive role for centralized government. The United States has thrived as a nation for over 230 years precisely because of its love for freedom and its belief in free markets.(continued)

And, the American people gave him the mandate to do so in November 2008. Their throats are now being slit as a result.

“America was on life support election night 2008. She gave up the ghost yesterday. RIP USA.”

That’s the old fighting spirit that made this country great...

Cripes, WTF is wrong with the people on this board today? We have almost every state in the union getting ready to challenge this bstrd in court and we are acting like it’s all over. The challenges haven’t even begun yet.

If the Republicans don't step up and oppose this thing with every fiber of their being, we're doomed. Once Obamacare gets its tentacles spread throughout the government and the economy, there will be no way to defeat it.

Now is the time to act, and we mustn't let up until we kill it.

Subject: : Judge Kithil of Marble Falls,TX - HB3200 highlighted pages most egregious. Please read this........ especially the reference to pages 58 & 59 and send to your entire address list.

JUDGE KITHIL wrote:

“I have reviewed selected sections of the bill, and find
it unbelievable that our Congress, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, could come up with a bill loaded with so many wrong-headed elements.”

“Both Republicans and Democrats are equally responsible
for the financial mess of both Social Security and Medicare programs.”

“I am opposed to HB 3200 for a number of reasons.

To start with, it is estimated that a federal bureaucracy of more than 150,000 new employees will be required to administer HB3200. That is an unacceptable expansion of a government that is already too intrusive in our lives. If we are going to hire 150,000 new employees, let’s put them to work protecting our borders, fighting the massive drug problem and putting more law enforcement/firefighters out there.”

JUDGE KITHIL continued: “Other problems I have with
this bill include:

** Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance
to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally.

** Page 58 and 59: The government will have
real-time access to an individual’s bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.

** Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by
the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN).

** Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this
section will not be treated as a tax. (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?)

** Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same
regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors’ fees.

** Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration
care according to the patient’s age.

** Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a
prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.

** Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates
advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an “end-of-life planning” seminar every five years. (Death councelling.)

** Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify
which doctors can write an end-of-life order.

HAD ENOUGH???? Judge Kithil then goes on:

“Finally, it is specifically stated that this bill will not apply to members of Congress. Members of Congress are already exempt from the Social Security system, and have a well-funded private plan that covers their retirement needs. If they were on our Social Security plan, I believe they would find a very quick ‘fix’ to make the plan financially sound for their future.”

Honorable David Kithil
Marble Falls, Texas

All of the above should give you the point blank
ammo you need to support your opposition to Obamacare. Please send this information on to all of your email contacts.

Do you have a link for the bill where I can confirm pages, etc? I'd also like to send it out to everyone I know.

Thanks

Ditto on the confirmation of this. I would send it, post it, blog it everywhere, but need to know where it came from specifically to combat any naysayers. :)
Thanks for the good info!!

The one thing I’m reasonably certain of is that the system enacted yesterday won’t survive the decade. It is a house of cards balanced on the twin pinheads of the Medicare cuts and the individual mandate.

The individual mandate will be knocked out by the courts (it’s the only provision which I’m confident will be) and the Medicare cuts will be knocked out by the political process (the senior lobby is much too powerful).

Without the individual mandate, it will be almost completely irrational for any healthy young person to own health insurance. After all, why pay for health insurance when you’re healthy when you can simply wait until you are sick and can be guaranteed the right to purchase it then at the same price? The same thing that happened in New York after their “health insurance reform” will happen nationwide on a much larger scale - the number of uninsured will skyrocket. With the risk pool almost exclusively populated by the sick and injured, premiums will skyrocket as well.

In fact, the same thing may happen even if the individual mandate survives. I know my current insurance premiums are already more than double $750 penalty, and I am a healthy 30-year-old male with no pre-existing conditions. Furthermore, the bill precludes the imposition of criminal sanctions for failure to purchase insurance, and also precludes the imposition of tax liens to collect the penalty. The individual mandate is a lot weaker than a lot of people think.

Without the Medicare cuts, the cost of the program will go through the roof, and taxes will have to be increased for everyone, not just the rich. That isn’t going to make the bill’s proponents, from the President on down, any more popular.

With both taxes and insurance premiums increasing, as they inevitably will, the new health care system will become politically untenable, just as most of the analogous state systems have been where they’ve been attempted. Once the house of cards collapses, it remains to be seen whether it will be replaced by a single-payer system or a return to a market-based system. I suspect we’ll be back to the drawing board before the decade is out, and the next fight will be even nastier than this one.

This is from the House bill, the Senate bill is what passed not the house bill.

My tax accountant said that higher taxes to pay for this will start this year, but the benefits for the public at large won't start till 2014. I already have coverage so all they can do is PUNISH me. In any case, I expect my health benefits to decrease, my quality of care to worsen, my costs to rise.
