From Wikipedia:
U.S. Presidents have issued Executive Orders since 1789, usually to help officers and agencies of the Executive branch manage the operations within the Federal Government itself. Executive orders do have the full force of law since issuances are typically made in pursuance of certain Acts of Congress, some of which specifically delegate to the President some degree of discretionary power (delegated legislation), or are believed to have their authority for issuances based in a power inherently granted to the Executive by the Constitution. It is these cited or perceived justifications made by a President when authoring Executive Orders that have come under criticism for exceeding Executive authority and have been subject to legal proceedings even at various times throughout U.S. history concerning the legal validity or justification behind an order's issuance.
Isn't this what Obama used to get the EPA to go along with those idiotic Carbon regs? Also from Wikipedia.
It is quite common for US Presidents to issue executive orders that instruct federal agencies to promulgate administrative regulations in order to circumvent the legislative process in the US Congress altogether, though, as alluded to above, this can violate the US Constitution in a number of ways. US Presidents are quite aware that US congressional politics can defeat or otherwise prevent the passage of legislation presidents deem politically important. In this regard, US Presidents have issued executive orders calling upon federal agencies, such as the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the United States Department of Energy (DOE), to issue administrative regulations where the political process of adopting congressional legislation necessary to implement multilateral environmental regulatory treaty obligations a president wishes for the US to assume would prevent US ratification of/accession to that treaty.
I thought they were unrelated too- but what’s he going to do- just write an executive order saying federal funds will not be used for abortions? They’ll lose the 40 votes- or at least a LOT of them.
I’m just baffled how they think this can work...
Good. Now everyone will know who the losers are.
Yes that’s what it looks like so then they will vote on the senate bill...I think...scratching my head to keep up. But deem and pass is dead....stupak deal is dead. Reconcilisation? hummm don’t know.
1pm and I am STILL in my pjs. I really have to go get dressed!
“The whole thing stinks and just goes to show how corrupt they really are”
A great bottom line point you have there.
They are breaking the rules right....voting on ammendments to a bill that hasn’t even been passed....lol. Jeff Flake was just trying to bring that point up a minute ago on the house floor over the veteran fix they just all voted on and the the dingbat standing in the chair basically told him to refer to the rules and make his own mind up. In other words...’We can do anything we want to up here...we are in charge..nanni..nanni booboo’.
Our constitutional form of government is being shreaded as we speak.
They are so arrogant they will probably refuse to do a roll call vote!! This cabal does anything it wants regardless of such pesky things as rules and procedure. CO
I have been thinking about this. In order to prohibit spending federal money on abortion they had to get an actual piece of litigation, the Hyde Amendment. And it gets attached to appropriations bills.
Yes, you can wipe out one EO with another EO, but I’m not sure you affect the actual legislation this way. It’s hard to think about it when you don’t know what it is supposed to say.
any minute he is to arrive
Nah, might as well be comfortable while they kill our country and freedom.
I suppose some of them would go for it just to be rid of the issue...but likely there’s enough true believers among them to knock the idea down.
also, he can issue an executive order at any time - he can also withdraw them at any time
he can also promise to issue one, and never do it - pro life democrats need to remember that and the history of der fuhrer’s lies
So...am I to understand the House is actually going to PASS the Senate bill? Without changes?
I can’t believe that for a minute..
Obama to speak here supposedly http://interactive.foxnews.com/livestream/live.html?chanId=6

BREAKING- De Fazio SWITCHES to YES :(
PER FOX email
By this time anyone who isn’t in a coma knows who to blame even if there is an “anonymous” vote that okays the Senate bill. And it ain’t the Republicans.
I have a question, and forgive me, it may have been asked before——when it comes time for the final vote, is it possible to “change your mind” and vote another way at the last moment?
