Folks, I'm really worried about the House's passage of the Obamacare bill last night. I'm mostly concerned about the fines/jail time for not purchasing an insurance plan.
Currently, I've been without health insurance for over 2 years. I could have bought into a plan, but because the plan's price and my low income (despite my professional job), I decided against getting health insurance. I'm young and in relatively good health. I take prescription meds, but I can purchase them cheaply through Walmart.
My question to the FR community is this: since I don't want to pay fines or go to jail for a misdemeanor (e.g., not buying health insurance) , where should I move to? I was thinking Mexico, Israel, or the motherland Ireland. Atleast in those places, you are not forced to purchase health insurance. Any other suggestions? Am I blowing things out of proportion? Thanks for your input!
One last thing: We ignore the lessons of history at our peril. 2000 years or so ago, Titus Livy, in the introduction to his monumental history of Rome remarked that his purpose in writing was "to trace the progress of our moral decline, to watch, first, the sinking of the foundations of morality as the old teaching was allowed to lapse, then the rapidly increasing disintegration, then the final collapse of the whole edifice, and the dark dawning of our modern day when we can neither endure our vices nor face the remedies needed to cure them."The people of Rome could do neither and night fell in the Western world for a thousand years.
So, when we face the dark dawning of our own modern day of which Livy spoke so long ago, there is a history lesson that every one of you all can and must teach.
Its the lesson that courageous American men and women taught the British 234 years ago at Lexington Green and beyond.
And the lesson is that the pursuit of tyranny comes with a terrible and deadly cost to its perpetrators. For you are what tyrants fear most - informed, armed and unafraid citizens.
But if you choose to do nothing and surrender to the evil that has overtaken us, not only is your cause lost, but so is everyone elses. Your surrender will only strengthen those who would perpetrate their evil on others. And that's the greatest crime of all.
Stay well. Stay safe. Stay armed. Stay free.
Its in your hands now.
I am there with you, buddy. Whosoever isn’t angry and depressed about this bill is delusional.
There are those who are severely disabled now who won’t be alive long under this if it becomes law. It’s Biblical.
While I might consider Israel, you’d need Hebrew, and be ready to fight. As in fight.
We can’t go to the sea, as Spartacus did. They can’t pick the terrain to fight.
And you do fight or flee. Eventually, you have to turn and fight or die on your knees.

Look up ‘leaderless cells’ and enough said about that.
The citizens of the original 13 colonies certainly thought so. So did a lot of other generations of patriotic Americans. Many of them died to bequeath this incredible nation to us.
People like Debacled are blowing a bunch of hot air, talking about leaving the US. He doesn't have the stones to do a damn thing, including joining his countrymen to resist the encroaching tyranny from Washington.
"A piece of laundry". That's about as unbelievable a statement as I've ever seen
My eyeballs about popped out of my head when I saw that. That type of statement is the last thing you expect to see in a place like Free Republic.
As I recall, they were all unarmed. Big difference between those poor Russians and us. We'll shoot back.
Apologies for the double post.
Americans need to know the truth of what you said, right down to the marrow of their bones. The growing tyranny which we're all witnessing would fold and cower into darkness in a heartbeat if the American people all stood as one and said, "No!" That is our true power.
The time appears to be quickly approaching when we will have to do exactly that, or we will see the beginning of another very long and dark age of man.
Move?
Hell no!
Stay, stand and fight. USSC here we come!
If there is to be trouble, let it be in my time, so my children may have peace.~~Thomas Paine
The only thing you have to fear is fear itself ,, call your reps. send letters , ask for responses attend rallies , support your local conservative candidates ,,,,,,, DON’T SIT ON YOUR BUTT ,, that’s how we got here .
The Senate is unlikely to pass this bill with a public option if at all ,,, but cap and trade and the illegals will be on their future agenda ,, stay active and welcome to freerepublic ,, your in the best of company .
I know he/she/it will return under another screen name.
Relatively young, self-employeed, CHOOSING not to pay for insurance that I do not need or want. Mandatory Heathcare Insurance is NOT reform. Making healthcare competitive in a free market IS.
Unlike you, I am not looking for a new nationality. I am, however, looking for the many, many people in our situation to do the following:
1) Vote PROPERLY.
2) Uphold the U.S. Constitution.
3) Resist.
Please add me to the "Pelosicared 1%er List"
Giggle. Thank you.

Go back to DU, in fact GO BACK TO THE SOVIET UNION WERE YOU BELONG! TRAITOR!
I don't think it is beyond saving, but I am afraid it may get to a point, or maybe it already has reached that point, where armed conflict is the only way to save it. I hope that does not happen, but one must consider all the options.
