Made in His Image: Immune Systems, The Body's Security Force
ACTS & FACTS ^ | November 2009 | Randy J. Guliuzza, P.E., M.D.

Posted on 11/08/2009 10:25:52 AM PST by GodGunsGuts

Good neighborhoods provide families a lot of protection, but even the best of communities remain vulnerable to the threat of criminals invading their homes. Our human bodies are also vulnerable to foreign invaders such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. But when these infection-causing microbes break in where they don't belong, they face a serious defense force, eventually to be caught and destroyed by a highly trained, cell-sized army equipped with a sophisticated array of weaponry. That security force is called the human immune system. Designed with amazingly dynamic communication networks that pass information back and forth between hundreds of millions of cells, the human immune system strategically fights off microscopic invaders and remembers them each time they attack the body...

Excellent point. So:

A. "(...) the necessity of blood for egg laying might not have always been so."

Indeed. Now, there is the second step toward understanding, equally indisputable:

B. Now, the necessity of blood for egg laying in certain species of mosquitoes is a fact.

A+B=something happened that made some species of mosquitoes dependent on blood. They CHANGED to utilize the convenient source of proteins, and they changed so much that they cannot reproduce without it anymore. Some people call such change "evolution".

Evolution is a term more flexible in its application than a rubber band so calling it evolution is meaningless. The mosquitoe is still just a mosquitoe no matter what it eats just like the finches.

OK, I give up (for now), and I am ready to accept the following extrapolation of the Genesis, if you guys insist:

"God created tapeworms and blood-sucking lice, bedbugs, mosquitoes and ticks, according to their kind. And God saw that they were good."

Good night.

The 'mosquitoe' is mosquito.

The curse of creation is mentioned elsewhere in the Bible.

I agree, btw, that there is a doctrine like this in Paul's letters. However it appears to me to be an innovation of his. I don't, at least at this point, see it anywhere else in the Bible.

Even in Paul, though, its unclear that it is intended or suitable to be taken as either a biological or physical insight.

For instance, if we assume, from Paul, that there was literally no death whatsoever before the fall, then this becomes absurd. There has to be some death, or, as I suggested upthread, the pre-fall world would have to be so utterly different that it couldn't be the same universe at all. IOW the fall would entail a wholesale recreation never mentioned or contemplated in the Bible.

For example, no death whatsoever would include cell death. Cell death is essential for the growth, development and continuing health of all animals. Without cell death our brains would never develop. Our limbs would never form. Indeed we would die within days, if not hours, from uncontrollable, full body cancer.

There would also have to be, at the very least, death of microorganisms and insects, or they would quickly reach disasterous population levels.

Good night. Just think of this before you go, if God created mosquitoes to bite you and suck blood, then aren’t you attempting to frustrate that purpose by swatting them?

Ditto for fleas/ticks/bedbugs.

Me embarrassed? Hardly.

No kidding. One has to have a sense of shame to be embarrassed and obviously you have none.

It was metmom that had to retract her support of GGG and admit she and GGG were wrong.

Something we'll never see out of you, an admission that you were wrong.

BTW, in typical evo fashion, you once again neglected to courtesy ping those about whom you are talking, even when you mention them by name.

Evos are great about taking offense when creationists don't courtesy ping them but are less than conscientious about returning the favor.

Why is it that evos have such a double standard when it comes to what they expect out of others and excuse in themselves? Do as I say, not as I do, again.

Low blow. You know that I try to always courtesy ping you. So I missed one. NBD. Your post looks like a copy/paste from your database of anti-evolution writings.

Now that is funny. You are telling others to follow rules that you yourself refuse to follow. Remember how upset you got when I asked you to ping me when you talked about me?

When I am wrong, I openly admit it. It's just that you never show me to be wrong.

For instance, if we assume, from Paul, that there was literally no death whatsoever before the fall, then this becomes absurd.

That would be an assumption indeed.

In Paul's letters, he is concerned mostly with human death and the life offered through Christ.

At some point, all of creation will also be renewed, which is addressed by Paul and John in Revelation. I believe Peter mentions it as well.

There is simply no way to know exactly what conditions were like before the Fall, and even if God could explain them any better than He did, that doesn't mean that we could understand it.

And when it gets down to it, all the *what if's* don't amount to much but an interesting mental exercise.

What's important to us right now is the decision one makes concerning Christ.

I find dealing with life as it is right now more than enough than to bother with inane arguments posted by evos about parasites and mosquitoes as if that somehow discredits everything else the Bible has to say simply because there's no good answers to questions that don't have any.

Metmom knows that I go out of the way to courtesy ping her. She is just ticked that she had to admit GGG and her support of GGG tonight were in error.

OTOH, you never did openly admit that Scripture actually states that sin entered the world though Adam’s sin.

Courtesy ping to GGG which has been duly neglected.

GGG posted the article. I don't think he is an 'evo'.

I don't recall being involved in that discussion. I do remember something about Genesis 3 that you originally supported but finally gave up and admitted that you and GGG were wrong.

GGG has not been neglected. He is in hiding since you admitted that y'all were wrong on Genesis 3.

Hmmm. So it is do as you say, not as you do. That is really bad. Particularly when you know that it is my habit to give you courtesy pings. Shame.

This perspective makes sense for a believer. It also suggests -- even though you choose that "side" in these threads -- that you might have mixed feelings about "creation science," since much of its substance is concerned with elaborating particular scenarios of "exactly what conditions were like before the Fall".
