LONDON (Reuters) - Many prehistoric Australian aboriginals could have outrun world 100 and 200 meters record holder Usain Bolt in modern conditions.
Some Tutsi men in Rwanda exceeded the current world high jump record of 2.45 meters during initiation ceremonies in which they had to jump at least their own height to progress to manhood.
Any Neanderthal woman could have beaten former bodybuilder and current California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in an arm wrestle.

Really?
Our genetics are producing stronger, rather than weaker humans?
I used to buy that. But that would require a net gain of genetic information instead of a loss.
Jumping your own height was the standard in my high school track team. Of course in a jr. high/ high school of 3000 kids and only 12 of us high jumping it didn’t say too much. I used to go up & down steps four at a time on the ship.
Maybe that’s why I’m arthritic & some days have trouble with one at a time.
Nice man-tan Pedro! Looks like you did a little man-scaping too! Your chest is so smooth!
Not to bring up another topic, but that is what is happening with all the new rules in the NFL. There are so many new rules to protect the quarterback that the NFL has forgotten the objective of the game. It is happening everywhere in society.
GGG ping
same with soccer.
i heard that some groups wanted their little darlings to have a helmet on because they head the ball.
For crying out loud these people need to stop having boys if they want to raise them like girls.
‘Probly all sorts of records have been set thousands of years ago and will never be broken. The guy who ran the fastest mile might have done so while being chased by African wild dogs 20 thousand years ago, for instance.
Freegards
Tell you what. Bring that Neanderthal bastard into my neighborhood beating his chest, and I’ll pump about 10 rounds from an AR into him, and then go have lunch. And then tell me all about how wimpy the modern man is. Those quasi-gorillas were wusses, and they were dumb. We don’t need to climb trees and jump high just to stay alive.
same here and good for you.
why would a women want to date a girlie man anyway?
I mean wouldn’t a woman want to know she is safe if something happens.
Over half the men in Boston love to flip the finger I noticed when I was there but have no desire to do it when they are face to face.
cowardly ponces .
Quarterbacks will evolve who can only throw, but not have other football skills like getting back up after being tackled or running the option. Eventually they will all look like soccer players with one huge arm.
(picture stolen from an arm wrestling thread).
Indeed, the human brain is almost always considered to be an unnatural element in science, for reasons that totally escape me.
Most large predators are superior to men, unless we pick up a weapon, but we do pick up weapons, so its a mute point. Dismissing the human brain is like dismissing that birds have wings.
Unfortunately, average Neanderthal brain volume exceeded homo sapiens by about 100 ml.
Why is the guys one arm so much bigger than the other?
How many highways did Neanderthals build? How many rockets did they launch?
I hope not much tax money was expended for this
“Hey, look, the sky is blue.” article.
For many thousands of years, the species of man has
periodically killed off its strongest and bravest males
and routinely sent them off to do battle with one another.
Genetically speaking, it is no surprise that each succeeding
generation would contain fewer and fewer strong brave males.
Contemporay societies have more knowledge and information,
this is not an indication of a stronger genetic pool.
Your assumptions are the same as those who believe that modern society has outgrown things like biblical laws (3000 yrs ago) and even the Constitution (230 yrs ago),
because we’re “so much smarter now” than then.
Another point generally overlooked, it took 5K years to have the framework for today's inventions. I'm sure the concept of a "horseless carriage" has been around for a long time. The technology to actually build it, that's a whole other story.
Anyone read “5000 year leap”?
Human society was pretty stagnant until the concept of government protection of individual rights and property came about.
“As individuals we may be weaker. But as a species we are stronger than ever.”
I`m not so sure about that. Thousands of years ago, if a disease came along, only the strongest could survive and live to pass their genes along. Now, with the aid of modern medicine, even the weak can survive and be able to pass their genes along.
2.45 meters X100=245 cm divided by 2.54 cm/inch=96.45 inches divided by 12= 8ft and 1/2 inches tall. OK I'll officially call BS. The Tutsis are very tall, but none of them are 8 FEET tall!
