Rescuers are tracking and chasing a "homemade flying saucer" that is in flight with a 6-year-old, by himself, on board.
The incident started this morning in Fort Collins when the boy got into the balloon-like device, which was built by an adult, and it came loose from a tether, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
The contraption could rise as high as 10,000 feet, the sheriff's office said.
The home-made flying saucer was last seen in flight over Weld County.
The sheriff's office is working the Federal Aviation Administration to determine how to best get the boy down.

Anytime there are stories like this, ALL the stuff that is being said by the reporters has to be considered to be about 10% useful information, 20% complete distortions, and the rest just ignorant. That is why I KNEW that some of the people were reporting AGL, and some MSL, altitudes. It went up to 7-8,000 MSL—— which was 2-4,000 above the ground of that area.
Apparently they have searched his home now, by the way... no joy.
What is the Wife Swap thing? I just joined this thread.
Kid: “Little Brother, you untie the rope when I climb inside”
Little Bro: “’kay”
Kid inside, rope untied
Kid: “I have landed on the moon...let’s explore”
Kid climbs out, balloon lifts off and flies away
Kid: “Oh no! Dad’s gonna kill me... I’m running away”
Yep, that’s them. Funny how I remember that episode - the husband was WEIRD. Extremely messy and disorganized house. Would yank their kids out of bed at all hours to go ‘chase storms.’ No formal schooling or organized activity.
What the heck does this have to do with coconuts?!
The door seemed to be pretty well secured during flight. I don’t think the 6YO was ever inside the thing. I suspect the two brothers conspired after untethering the balloon to tell a tall tale.
I don’t think he was in it either. I think the brother might have released the balloon and knows something about where his little brother is. Just my suspicious mind.
I have a feeling people in this family are possibly media hounds
If this is a hoax, these people need to pay.
uh ok smarty pants. YOU suggest something
See my post #177...
Where are the parents? Is it known there’s not some other attachment that fell off earlier? Now the news is saying they’re searching within a mile radius of the Fort Collins residence, particularly in the downwind area.
I have participated in such searches of homes where only after more detailed and successive searches have found the “missing” child hiding under a pile of clothes in a closet.
Parents are described as “storm chasers”. The father has a motorcycle with special equipment to measure magnetic fields as he rides into storms. The wife and children ride behind him in an SUV.
It was an experimental balloon.
Shep Smith is a little queer whose utmost goal in life is to fellate Obama.
Shep needs to go. He is a laughing stock!
And how many times was the Ramsay house searched looking for JonBenet?
Falcon is the youngest.
Why no photos of distraught crying parents/ why no huge search crowds fanning out to search the surrounding land?
Parents incommunicado=tough interrogation by cops.
he's not too young to think that up... i am the mother of two boys, and i'm amazed at what they have been able to come up with when all they care about is saving their behinds...
