O’Reilly: Dawkins’ evolution only is fascism
Uncommon Descent ^ | October 12, 2009

O’Reilly told Dawkins”

you insist you can’t even mention it, that is fascism, sir.

Was he right? Is it constitutional/scientific to insist that only materialistic evolution can be taught?

No problem. Just like to know what the sources are. Thanks.

It was on another thread.

There is nothing scientific in using math to create a lie.

Einstein’s work has nothing to do with evolution, nor with the fictional big bang universe. Neither does quantum physics have any stock in the big bang, nor evolution.

The universe is visibly symmetrical, and bounded, and appears uniformly distributed about our location.

No problem. It was easy to find. e-s’s opinion on this is hardly unknown, making his dissembling and accusations of inaccuracy quite reprehensible; wouldn't you agree? ;)

I shudder at the thought of one who considers the Bible “laughable.”

Talking snakes are sort of funny!

All the inaccuracies have been by your hand so far.

Are you looking for company in Bedlam?

It is not inaccurate that you are a geocentrist, you admit as much.

Now care to answer the question?

Which scriptural verses do you insist necessitates a geocentric universe such that every Bible believing Christian should accept it?

I’ve stayed out of this for a reason and I’m not going to be drawn in, thank you.

The first chapter of Genesis described a universe expanded from Earth outward. The “waters” above the firmament (expanse) are the boundary of the creation.

Don’t bother whinning that you can’t understand all this; we already know that from the drivel that you post.

So as long as the results from the scientific process don’t tread on your assumed ‘magisteria’ then it’s O.K.

But if the same scientific process produces results that contradict your assumed ‘magisteria’ then it’s a lie.

If that’s the case, then thanks for cutting to the quick.

I do know there is nothing scientific in using an iron-age, often contradictory, historically inaccurate, edited and omitted collection of writings to attempt to prop up unprovable unscientific conclusions in face of mounting and overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Tell me, how long did the religious authorities hold on to the sun-revolves-around-the-earth argument? And what did they do in the face of mounting and overwhelming evidence?

So tell me you disagree or whatever and we can just disagree and move on.

Thanks for letting us know that you are an unbeliever.

Why do unbelievers find themselves willing to accept obvious falsehood as “science?”

Evolution and atheist cosmology have no connection with science. Science born of believers gave us proven real-world physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics.

Unbelievers give us confusion, tyranny, and institutionalized ignorance. - Trillions of dollars spent searching for the chemerae that will ‘prove’ evolution, and fairy-tale big bang cosmology, all with no success, and demands for yet more money to keep on groping in the dark, while the truth was there in the writings of Enoch 5000 years ago. (yes, Enoch revealed the true structure of our solar system as told to him by God, 5000 years ago)

Explain to us how you can be a surveyor (which you previously had stated) and think what you do.
Do you think relativity is real? If so, how do you do surveying with modern instruments that involve the GPS system. The system has corrections for the effects of relativity on the atomic clocks in the satellites.
If they didn’t, the measurements would differ by hundreds of feet if not thousands/day.

Wacky, you have already shown us that you do not understand relativity, so bringing it up just makes you look foolish.

Actually, most of modern survey instruments do not have anything to do with GPS. I sold my GPS equipment several years ago because it wasn’t appropriate for the kind of work that is out there on an every day basis.

There are some that have believed the fast talking salesmen, and try to use RTK equipment to do general surveying, but the errors that arise out of improper use will put them out of business in due time. One has to be well grounded in statistics to even grasp what the problem is, and most are not.

BTW, the relativistic corrections are almost constant because all of the satelites are in nearly identical orbits. Those using GPS in differentialy corrected post processed mode with long observation times (as most control surveying is done) will find that the corrections cancel out.

“If they didn’t, the measurements would differ by hundreds of feet if not thousands/day”

You really do not understand! All of the satelites experience about the same acceleration, and operate at the same velocity. The corrections are only that important for those using the system to guide fast moving vehicles in real time (the military) and those using it to control the landing approach of aircraft.

It’s actually 10km (6 miles)/day!

Why do I see the stick with the GPS antenna on it almost every time I see surveyors?

Here is a lecture from Ohio State on it:

http://www.astronomy.ohio-state.edu/~pogge/Ast162/Unit5/gps.html

I do geocaching as a hobby and one of my good friends in it is a surveyor. He and his wife two of the top geocachers in the world. They are on vacation, but I will talk to him about your statements when he gets back.

"Why do I see the stick with the GPS antenna on it almost every time I see surveyors?"

They're not likely surveyors, they're GIS taggers. They come way cheaper than surveyors, and all they're doing is locating infrastructure for GIS layering. (fire hyudrants, water meters, manholes, water valves, driveways, or whatever)

I don't need lectures by amateurs and groupies; the real world differs dramatically from the fu-fu of academia. We have to make a profit, and we have to stay out of the court rooms, so we use the most effective means for whatever we do. If its highway route surveying, GPS wins bigtime; its almost like the accuracy comes for free, but if its boundary staking in a 30 year old subdivision, the obstructions make GPS a fools ticket to bankruptcy.

You could be wrong by half a foot or more, and the software can't find it, so you think you're poopin in tall cotton, until the next door neighbor hires a real surveyor that does the job right, with a total station, and finds your mistakes. :o(

Geocaching is fine if you're choosing up sides with the tyrants that Freerepublic was founded to fight, otherwise what's it good for? From a moral standpoint, I can't see myself being a part of it. Will your next hobby be tattooing the 'mark' on drones foreheads?

When the surveyor came to do my plot in the country he first found the old markers and began there, shoot the distance and angles, and allow for ten percent possible error overall.
But when he did my Dad’s place he found five acres that didn’t exist in any survey records and that created a bit of a problem.

Badly done surveys have been a pain for me.

“(yes, Enoch revealed the true structure of our solar system as told to him by God, 5000 years ago)”

Good luck with that. I don’t think people understand the mental gymnastics required of someone arguing from a conclusion. When the conclusion (even 5000 year old conclusions) is the dogma then all new evidence must be twisted to fit the conclusion.
Good luck with that.
